Because, with their minimal and sleek look, the floating shelves truly can work their magic wherever you place them. And depending on the size, they can be used for virtually anything. Wall shelves: A supporting act or the main event? I used a circular saw at work (used for cutting aluminium tubing), but it wouldn’t do a full cut. The solution was to turn the shelf over, then end-to-end, for each cut, with the hassle of re-measuring each time. I managed to get better than 1mm precision. If anything, the strength of the screw can damage the shelf when there is significant weight on said shelf. Therefore, it is safer to have more standard steel screws instead of a few very strong ones. Cut the short (vertical) edges first, and use this as a guide for the top and bottom (or left and right!) cuts.

Build as you please with section systems

This number will vary depending on the location of your shelf and how many studs you are likely to hit. The number of screws you have to use will vary depending on the weight of the shelf and the material in which the screws are secured. Screw Quantity Concrete is durable, but it doesn’t have the resolution to hold onto screws without getting bitten into. If the shelf doesn’t carry too much weight, this should not be a concern. You’ll need plenty of screws to keep any specific screw from biting into shiplap or other wood wall covers/frames. Installing floating shelves is a relatively straightforward process that can be completed with just a few tools and materials. It can also be a fun DIY project for those who enjoy home improvement.
