Normally I would have read The Atlas Complex as soon as my copy was delivered, but I’ve seen mixed reviews about it. I was hoping for a really gruesome revenge story but I ended up wishing I didn’t bother reading it in the first place as I couldn’t stand any if the characters and the ending annoyed me so much. On top of all that she is competing for a columnist promotion at the Oath Gazette, which she desperately needs. I'm so obsessed with the aesthetic that this book captures and the whole world that MJ Woodman created.

But, none the less, the pain and heartache represented between the pages of Divine occur in real life more than we'd like to think possible. At twelve, her life was upended when her mother left her for a weekend with a couple that decided she could earn them a tidy profit. I am a Christian and I believe in Christ, but I think the author took the idea of following Jesus a bit too far. The first few chapters serve to tell us that Electa is a bad fighter, and setting up a relationship with Lana. I could go on and on with things that happened to simply drive the narrative toward the author’s preconceived conclusion, but I’ll leave it here.For some of us, this type of living is so far beyond our wildest imagination, that we have difficulty relating to it. Divine by Mistake is the debut novel in a series set in our alternate world featuring a heroine named Shannon Parker and hero named Clanfintan. A series of events finds Shannon send back to the 21st century alone, pregnant and surrounded by mysterious people.

To be ever faithful and full of hope through such unspeakable attrocities such as she suffered, Mary Madison was a very strong and wonderful character.and even though i think the idea is so very cool, there is absolutely no world-building to support the awesome premise. From there, her life continued a downward spiral with only rare rays of hope breaking through, until she found a relationship with Jesus a decade later.

You can see her clear struggle on who the real enemy is, and at this point, it seems like both sides are the enemy. However, little does she know that she is about to be transported into a magical world full of goddesses, centaurs, shamans, muse nymphs, and evil Fomorians. It sounded like it was going to be a gripping and unforgettable thriller but it just ended up being a massive disappointment. Absolutely loved this book, the plot twists an the two love interests for the female MC was perfect you didn’t know which one to root for but the ending tho, left such a cliffhanger an has me waiting in agony for the second book to come out just to find out what happens an I’m sorry but I’m rooting for ASH all the way. Today the couple has joined the ranks of empty nesters, living in Tennessee near five of their adult children.

Along the way, Shannon must indemnify for Rhiannon’s past bad behavior including her ill-treatment of Clanfintan, which allows both Shannon and Clanfintan to fall in love finally. However, it is a typical conversion story (abused girl who has been taught to use her sexuality to get by in the world is transformed into a Christian social worker) and it works on that level.

I have put together some reading goals for this year and I wanted to share them with you as a way to hold myself accountable. The bad parts were really, really, bad; the good parts were toothache-inducing saccharine; every Christian was a wonderful person, and every non-Christian was an evil, evil monster (or, at the very best, neutral).Suffice it to say, though, that instances like these were peppered throughout, often making me roll my eyes at the lazy storytelling that seemed to rely on nothing but a long string of deus ex machina moments. Overall I would say that this book is a wonderful re imagining of the Roman world and I cannot wait for the next in the series. In Divine by Mistake, we are introduced to Shannon Parker, an English teacher in her early 30’s from Tulsa, Oklahoma as she sets out on the last day of the school year to attend an estate auction featuring beautiful, classic and strange antiquities.
