The hardware inside the TP-Link Archer AX73 is relatively impressive: the v1 version that I tested is powered by a triple-core Broadcom BCM6750 chip running at 1.5 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, and 128 MB of storage for the firmware. A v2 hardware revision of the same model features a quad-core Qualcomm IPQ5018 processor at 1 GHz. As for the last button, Tools, you tap it to configure wireless-network, guest-network, and internet connection settings; create a OneMesh network using compatible TP-Link devices; set up new device notifications; share your Wi-Fi credentials; and update the router’s firmware.

The Archer AX73’s write speed of 55MBps was faster than those of the TP-Link AX50 (42MBps) and the Asus RT-AX86U (52MBps), but it couldn’t keep pace with the Linksys MR-7350 (74MBps). The AX73’s score of 57MBps on the read test was faster than the TP-Link AX50 (44MBps) but not quite as fast as the Asus RT-AX86U (66MBps). The Linksys MR-7350 beat them all with a score of 80MBps. This router may not support all the mandatory features as ratified in Draft 3.0 of IEEE 802.11ax specification.There is no ignoring random disconnects on a router. Even so, I haven't been able to replicate the drops, and the router has performed admirably since I've left it alone. Still, it's just not ready for heavy users that rely on their connections if it can't guarantee perfect uptime outside of internet connection issues and power cuts. If you need that absolute uptime, though, you should consider a router that has been out longer with more mature software. While using the TP-Link Archer AX73, I had no problems connecting my devices to the network. Also, the signal strength was good everywhere. However, transfers on the 2.4 GHz band suffered quite a bit of variability, with large swings from the lowest to the highest speed. I also noticed that the coverage area for this router is relatively limited. I like the way the Archer AX73 looks. Following the design language introduced with the entry-level Archer AX21, one of the best cheap Wi-Fi 6 routers you can get, the Archer AX73 has an angular flat top with plenty of ventilation to keep it running reasonably cool. I'm not a fan of the USB port's placement on the side, but everything else feels well thought out. Testing the AX73: Excellent 5GHz Performance

Easily handle dozens of devices streaming and gaming at the same time — OFDMA and MU-MIMO combine to future-proof your home network by providing greater capacity to connect more devices. OFDMA My internet connection is from Cox with 500Mbps down and 10Mbps up. The upload speed is so slow that every test point was able to keep up without breaking a sweat. My desktop with an Intel AX210 Wi-Fi card had a link speed of 2.4Gbps and had no trouble getting full internet speed from its fixed location fairly near to the router.
