I know, in the end, it's up to me, but I'm looking for a bit of input. All my Tactical Marines wear MK4 armor (Calth....) and I will have to make so stupid expensive conversions to use Cataphracti TDA, there is some doubt, which Rhino would fit better into my army. The Deimos Rhino, and potentially all Rhino patterns built during these ancient times, were equipped with forward-mounted spikes used to protect the tank from obstacles and could cause damage to enemy armour if used as a battering ram, the spikes could also impale any unfortunate infantryman who is too slow to move out of the vehicle's path.

Warhammer 40k has always described the Imperium as a technologicaly stagnant culture, crippled in its progress by the Betrayal. There is no reason, Mars Pattern Rhinos should look out of place transporting my MK4 wearing Emperors Children across the battlefield.The Mark IIc replaces the turret-mounted twin-linked bolters of the Mark Ic that were slaved to the target-logis systems of the vehicle's Machine Spirit with a pintle-mounted Combi-bolter, much like the Mars Pattern Rhino. Arquitor Bombards are mobile artillery vehicles based on the Sicaran chassis, carrying heavy bombard weapons into battle to pound enemy positions as it advances alongside an infantry wave. The graviton-charge cannon blankets a wide area with a lethal gravimetric field, crushing those caught within and turning open ground into a quagmire. This resin and plastic kit contains new vehicle sponsons, allowing every option on the Arquitor Bombard datasheet for the first time. The kit comes with loads of options, including pintle-mounted weapons and wargear. The Rhino can be taken by any Legion, making it one of the best ways to get around whether you’re a Loyalist or a Traitor.* It’s similar (but not identical) to the Deimos-pattern Rhino from Forge World, and it will sit perfectly alongside your existing collection. In time, the vehicle became the standard fighting vehicle of Human armed forces across the galaxy. Recovered STC databases provided the early Imperial armies with Rhino variants still in use today, such as the Predator, Immolator and Whirlwind. In the White Dwarf article that launched the kit (issue 103), another key fragment of Warhammer 40,000 lore was expanded upon: the Standard Template Construct. Even then, Rhinos were seen as a versatile mainstay – an STC factory could fabricate them from almost anything a colony had lying around, from compressed plant matter to plywood!

Besides the sponsons being a bit fiddly and the well-known stiffness of the bottom of the hull from the Rhino kit, it’s a straightforward enough build. Neither the sponsons nor the turret really encourage magnetisation in the way the Dreadnought kits do; there’s no conveniently-sized magnet holes or anything, so if you do fancy magnetising you’ll need to break out the drill and get to it yourself. With this many options it may well be worth it. Robust and versatile, and able to resist the most hostile of environments, the Rhino has become the basic troop transport for Space Marine squads. It has also been used by many other trusted branches of the Imperial armed forces, including the Adeptus Mechanicus, Adepta Sororitas, Adeptus Arbites, Adeptus Custodes, and the forces of the Inquisition. It is unknown what other marks of the Deimos Pattern exist, although many Deimos Predators and its variants make use of a Deimos chassis of an unknown mark.
