Note: the file size of the map on the app is significantly larger than the size of the map file on the GPS. In Windows, the program has the menu in the top right corner, it says 'Lezyne GPS Firmware Programmer'. On a Mac, the drop-down menu is located next to the Apple logo in the top right corner of your screen, it says Lezyne-Firmware-Programmer. Battery life on the Super Pro has been great. I have done somewhere in the realm of eight to ten rides without recharging it. Compared to a much more expensive model from a competitor who shall remain nameless (cough, cough), the Super Pro outperforms it by a solid eight to ten rides.

You also won’t be able to view the map directly on your device – I honestly don’t think it would be an enjoyable experience. So, this makes it smartphone-dependent. Both are just not that easy to use and I actually got so annoyed at first that I put it off for quite some time. Because I needed to review the device well, I pushed through and eventually I managed to get the route I wanted to follow on the Super GPS. But I think that Lezyne would do well to have Interaction Designers upgrade their software to more user friendly versions. Navigation requires loading a route from your phone to the computer. There's no pre-loaded base map, but there are turn-by-turn directions. Routing doesn't always seem to follow the least traveled roads or greenways, in my experience although you are able to select your preferences in the app, according to Lezyne. The ability to do this is a little hidden right now, but they claim to be adding a pop-up feature that will make it much more clear. This bike computer is an awesome GPS enabled cycling computer with innovative smartphone integration. Its compact and rugged design makes it well suited to use on a variety of bikes. The price is phenomenal and it changes our expectations of cycling computers in this price range. Navigation at this price range was unheard of before the release of the Super GPS. With every new product cycle, we are more and more impressed with Lezyne; we can't wait to see what comes next. Garmin beware, a new player has arrived. Other Versions and Accessories Connect your GPS device to your computer using your Lezyne micro USB cable . If you want to use a different cable, it must be a data cable, otherwise the device will only charge.All credible GPS computers will offer either Ant+ or Bluetooth Smart connectivity (often both), which in turn allows you to pair the computer with a range of third-party devices, including heart rate monitors, power meters and cadence sensors. These will then return a wealth of related data. I bought a used Super Pro GPS that was used for about a year. The previous owner didn’t reset it to the factory settings, so I had to delete the activities and adjust the settings. To update your Lezyne GPS unit, you'll need a Windows or Mac computer. No other operating systems are supported. Updating your Lezyne GPS Another neat option is the ability to set the unit in landscape or portrait mode; I liked landscape, which makes a bit better use of screen area.

I was not super positive at first. I was irritated by the interfaces, both on the GPS, the smartphone App and the online environment. I really had to search before I realized everything. Once that worked out, I became more positive. I like the robustness of the device itself, the accuracy and reliability. I don’t think I will use all the functionalities (such as Live Strava segments, no way ;-), but for others the wealth of functionalities of this small, robust, smart device will still be very attractive. And for € 150 euros it is quite a well-priced device.

The computer provides you with all the data you need, in an easy to read format. This includes elements that focus on navigation and lots of data showing key areas of your cycling performance, and includes: The device’s firmware has been updated to show more data fields and it can now pair with our “Smart Connect” LED system. And its charging USB port has been upgraded to be much more water resistant. The Ally app also lets you seamlessly transfer ride data to Lezyne’s GPS Root computer app and to Strava, TrainingPeaks and Today’s Plan. There’s support for Strava Live, while incoming call and text notifications are pushed from your phone to the GPS. A mid-sized unit, the Super Pro has a 40mm by 33mm monochrome screen. That screen size is quite a bit smaller than the unit itself though, which measures 71mm by 48mm, is 26mm deep and weighs 60g. It sits quite high on the bike’s bars or stem, particularly since the standard mount is tall.The more bike computers I test, the more I appreciate Wahoo’s simplicity. This is because the map is on the GPS device, but not in the app. GPS Root also includes a route builder. You place waypoints, which the app then links up. Obviously, everyone who reads this will have to take it with a grain of salt because it’s coming directly from us, but there seems to be some confusion about the navigation and mapping features of the devices so here goes: Tell us what the product is for and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it? Strava segments can be seen in the Lezyne Ally V2 application and can be enabled or disabled depending on user preference. The segments work in the same manner with both Garmin and Lezyne devices, but Lezyne gives you more control over segments, where Garmin loads your starred segments, as well as Strava, selected segments based on location. We prefer the Lezyne format as it allows more user control. ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart The computer is USB rechargeable and, compared to previous Lezyne models, the charging system is far more water resistant for additional protection and durability. The computer comes with up to 28 hours of battery life. Display Data Once that measurement is sorted, cycling computers can work out your distance, average and maximum speed, and your ride time. You may not need all that data, or you may need far more if you’re training for a race or competition.

The Enhanced Super’s user interface is fairly intuitive and the screen is clearly legible, although it fares less well at extreme viewing angles. Over a couple of months of use it seemed to achieve something close to its maximum battery life of around 24 hours and it behaved consistently apart from two freeze-ups, which were cleared with a simple hard reset. In its most simple form, the computer is fairly easy to use while on a ride and I experienced no issues of losing GPS signal. It relays messages as advertised and keeps the data you choose nicely organized on the screen. The mount for the computer isn't compatible with anything other than Lezyne's mounts, but it is more secure than a Garmin or Wahoo unit.
