I've read my fair share of heart stopping, nothing can top this books. This goes right up there. I could not predict a minute of it.

I didn't realize this book was the last for this series until I got to the end where the book jumps 20 years into the future and the author wraps up the characters and what has happened over that time frame. I appreciated the closure considering some interesting tidbits that were dropped near the end of the book regarding the family. So! If any of what I listed above appeals to your dark, romantic heart, then I think you’ll be happy with Una and Nero’s story. But I should mention whilst I was provided an ARC, as I mentioned earlier that the Kiss of Death duet has already been released as two separate books. Book one is Kill Me, and book two is Kiss Me. For the first time ever, Lovell has combined the two books into one (pictured above is the brand, spanking cover for it)! Buuuuuut… If you can’t wait for this release, go grab those books now! 😉 It was a good read, suspenseful, detailed. The characters were good, well rounded and as I say, I enjoyed having a police force to get into.Raphael and his sire Gabriel must go on the hunt for Richelieu and his army of vampires. Richelieu is searching for any artifact that may have the blood of Christ on it. The blood of Christ will give him power to win the coming battle. Raphael and Gabriel must stop him before it is too late.

THE AUTHOR: Paul Finch is a former cop and journalist, now full-time writer. Having originally written for the television series THE BILL plus children's animation and DOCTOR WHO audio dramas, he went on to write horror, but is now best known for his crime / thriller fiction. Did JJ, proprietor of Junie's Oyster Bar and Dance Hall, murder Phillippe because he feared the competition? Might Maggie's mother, Ninette, have bumped off the chef for stealing one of her cherished recipes? Or was the culprit a local seafood vendor, miffed because Phillippe was somehow able to sell oysters for a remarkably reasonable price, despite an oyster shortage? If you're looking for a short and captivating read to escape reality, a touching love story with a drop of pain, then this one is for you. Her next client, Arnaldo Botticelli, the underboss of the Italian Mafia, is where she meets Nero Verdi who they collectively have a hit against a capo, Lorenzo Santos. The plan though, has Una working directly with Nero, to overthrow his half brother and place him as capo of New York. Of course, it wouldn't be a cozy without someone dying/murdered. In this case, it is a no-good, recipe stealing chef for a new restaurant in town. To top everything else, he and his crew don't seem to fight fair and are out to decimate the little competition there is in town which includes JJ's restaurant Junie's. Maggie is not ok with this and does her best to poke her nose into the situation and uncover the killer but not without putting herself in harm's way in the process. There is even a stalker and there is no way to know who it could possibly be, but Bo and the police force are on the case. The answer will surprise you, at least it did me!While we're on the subject of Richelieu, tell me again how he has managed to survive 400+ years without someone recognizing him as THE Cardinal Richelieu? The author tells us that he doesn't have to have an all-out war to gain ultimate power because he has spent centuries putting his own men in very powerful places. Whaaaa? And just HOW has he done this without someone noticing that he keeps on living century after century without aging? This is just one teeny tiny example of my "huh?" moments throughout this series. I realize it's a vampire book, so of course NOT REAL, but sometimes I feel the author asks a bit much in the way of suspending disbelief. this book was ....... fine. not amazing, not mind-blowing, just. fine. it teased at being amazing, but never quite got there. The plot contained within the book is a bit complex at times; there's a lot going on throughout. Most of which is very hard hitting and at times quite hard to read about as there are some very dark themes that run throughout the book. There are scenes and characters that, on introduction, don't appear to fit in with the rest of what is happening but, knowing this author as I do, I know they will eventually so the key for me was to just sit with them, remember them, and know that eventually the bigger picture will all come together. And it does, with explosive consequences! Pushing in to the second half of the book, The hunt starts reaching it's pinnacle when powerful sources start coming into play, fearing for more than just Her life now, she realizes that no matter what something will be lost along the way. Sacrifices must be given, both physically, mentally, and emotionally.
