I was very confused where this book was going the majority of the time. I was constantly questioning what was going on and making up solutions in my head… it was a very, very enjoyable read! I wish I could be hypnotised to forget this shitshow, but no bc ITS IMPOSSIBLE 🙃 Not in the Silent Bride tho! A contemporary thriller, I may add. Alice has not had a lot of success with relationships. When she meets Seth, that all changes – he is the perfect boyfriend and when after only a year of dating he proposes she is a hundred percent sure that he is the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Walking down the aisle, Alice cannot wait to start her life with Seth – she knows it will be perfect. Until she looks up to face her groom and finds that she does not recognise the man waiting for her at the altar. The premise is so intriguing. Alice shows up at her wedding and as her father walks her down the aisle she realizes the groom waiting for her isn't Seth at all. He's a stranger. Yet everyone else seems to believe he is, in fact, Seth. Say what??? Pass me the popcorn! 👀🍿 I read this book in just a few hours on a lazy Sunday. I know it’s early to be saying this but I have a feeling this book is going to be amongst my favorites this year.

Alice and Seth seem like the idyllic couple and they are just about to tie the knot on their big day. But, wait a moment ... What's this? Who is that strange man standing in the church where Alice's husband-to-be should be standing. She doesn't recognize him at all. Just what is going on here? If you love mysteries as much as I do, you know this made my eyes light up my and my insides squeal .

None of them really confirmed nor denied that Seth really WAS Seth. And how could her friends or family disbelieve her when THEYD NEVER EVEN MET HIM 🫠 why didn’t Alice get her phone out on her wedding day and try and get up pictures of the real Seth ASAP? As the story progresses m, is throws up its fair share of red herrings as to WHAT, Why, and who, might be responsible. I’d say the most satisfying part of the story is the sense of utter mystery surrounding what has happened to Seth. Is Alice unwell, suffering with some sort of mental break/has a physical illness affecting her brain? Or is this man really not him? With her now fearing that she is losing her mind, she sets out to uncover the truth. Will she find the man she loves despite everybody around her telling her that he is right there in front of her?

It is extremely well written as is every book I have read by Shalini with vivid descriptions that really put you in the storyline. The synopsis, title and cover work perfectly with the storyline. Every single time I told myself I'd finish the chapter and then put it down and every single time I was left with a sort of cliff hanger refusing to allow me to put it down. This was a horrendous mess of a book. I recently read The Silent Patient and enjoyed it, and since this was marketed as a psychological thriller, I thought, hey, I’ll probably enjoy this, too.. Wait, what? Of course it is. Everyone says so. N0 one can figure out what's wrong with Alice and why she abruptly leaves her own wedding, but Alice doesn't know the stranger she left at the alter. I had 5 other books I had prioritized for this month but knowing I had this one sitting on the shelf was killing me. I had to know what was inside. The Silent Bride tells the story of a bride walking down the aisle on her wedding day, excited by her big day and eager to start her new life. When she looks up and sees her groom, she does not recognise him. No matter what anyone else may say, she is convinced that he is not the man she was planning to marry….This story is also dual POV!! In that we get just a liiiiiiittle bit from the side of the “bad guy”. It continues to set the scene for an impending dramatic event, but you never know when it’s comingggg……

The characters are all realistic and relatable. There is a nice mixture of personalities and you are sure to find someone in this story you will love. Alice is a brilliant creation. This young woman seems to go from one disastrous relationship to the next. I enjoy her drive to understand what was happening and her courage to stand up for herself when it mattered most. When the wedding of your dreams becomes a nightmare…..Alice is rather excited. She is marrying Seth, a doctor and he is moving to her home town once they are married. Her friends haven't met him yet as when they arrange a night out inevitably his work gets in the way and him travelling from his current location is a distance. At the wedding half way down the aisle Alice comes to a halt. The groom isn't Seth and his parents are also imposters. What on earth is going on? This is written in the first person from Alice’s point of view and alternate chapters are before the wedding giving a now and then. There is also the odd one by someone else to give the reader a hint of what is going on. I won’t say any more! Hi everyone! Welcome to another edition of Thriller Thursday with Sharon. This week I am sharing my thoughts on Louise Jensen’s, The Fall and Shalini Boland’s, The Silent Bride. Both of these books are twisty psychological thrillers and I really enjoyed them.

Sadly, this book was not thrilling. The author did try to make it “psychological” but as a therapist, I found myself annoyed AGAIN to read a book written by someone who googled “therapy” once and thought they knew enough to write a book about mental health. insert eye roll. This is a spoiler, but hypnotherapy and hypnosis are brought up in this book…and everything said about them is literally made up. I can’t wait to read a book one day where the author actually talks to a mental health practitioner before trying to write about it.
