The Hisense E7K Pro is a 4K QLED TV with full-array backlighting (which Hisense refers to as ‘DLED’ for some reason) and a quad-core processor. It has excellent peak brightness in SDR and good reflection handling, so glare isn't an issue even in a bright room. Running it side by side with a number of rival screens, though, confirms that it’s actually delivering peak brightness levels only in line with other budget sets, and substantially lower than those pushed out by most mid-range sets.

The U7H gets significantly brighter in HDR and SDR, so highlights pop more with HDR content and the TV overcomes glare better with SDR content in a bright room.

VIDAA U5: An easy, smart and intuitive OS, simply access to rich contents and global applications (YouTube, Netflix and Freeview Play etc. The C3 has a much better picture quality due to its perfect contrast and the ability to display much deeper blacks, so it’s the better choice for a dark room.

In fact, our main takeaway from playing HDR on the 55A7GQ is that it tends to make black levels even worse. Uniformity in near-black scenes is better, but there are some noticeable uniformity issues and raised blacks, especially on the right side of the screen.
