The TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 is perfectly balanced on my X-Pro cameras. As you can see from the above photos I am using a 52mm vented metal hood I already had for my XF 35mm f/ 1/4. The lens is fully manual, featuring a dedicated aperture ring as well as a focus ring with distance markings. The Micro Four Thirds and L-mount version measures 60mm (2.4”) in diameter by 35mm (1.38”) long and weighs around 190g. the Canon RF, Canon EOS M, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z and Sony E mount versions are slightly larger and heavier, depending on what mount you go with. On APS-C cameras, this will equate to roughly a 75mm lens with the exception of MFT, where it'll be a 100mm full-frame equivalent lens. It's all metal, with even more metal than LEICA's SUMMILUX-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH, and feels, handles and looks very much like a LEICA lens. Its silky-smooth, zero-play focus is as smooth or smoother than my LEICA lenses. Overall bokeh is really nice with this lens. It never really gets nervous or weird when stopping down. The only problem is you will get some CA along the edges of bright out-of-focus highlights in some situations. Not that big of a deal really. For less money, the B+W 49mm 010 is an excellent filter, as are the multicoated B+W and the basic multicoated Hoya filters, but the Hoya HD3 is the toughest and the best.

When used on an APS-C camera, it sees the same angle of view as a 75 mm lens sees when used on a full-frame or 35mm camera. Flaring and blooming tend to go white, which can be unnerving at times. Makes me think this lens is using a lot of ultra-high refractive elements ( plastics or resins, or maybe some hybrid).This behavior decreases as you close the aperture and as the depth of field increases but is still visible at F5.6. If you doing individual portraits this is irrelevant but if you do a group of 3-4 people some may not be in focus Likewise ignore the crazy halo circle effect at f/1.4. I've only seen that in this one image, and it's a chance hitting of some internal part that led to this big reflective flare circle.

On Canon EOS R, get the spectacular RF 50/1.2L or the excellent RF 50/1.8, or any EF 1.8 or 1.2 lens on an EF to RF adapter. Oddly the only lens to avoid on Canon is the classic EF 50/1.4, which is a old design that, like the LEICA 50/1.4s, was never all that sharp, even if it has always been very popular. Fujifilm offers several different lenses that cover the 50mm focal length. To name just a few, there are the XF 50mm f/1, XF 50mm f/2, XF 16-55mm f/2.8, XF 50-140mm f/2.8, and the list goes on. It’s been said that Fujifilm doesn’t really make a bad lens, and I believe that is true. Even the XC series lenses have good quality optics. Agave, 9:54 AM, 19 December 2020. So far most of the TTArtisan E-mount lenses have first been released as M-mount lenses and then later been modified for other mounts. This 50mm 2.0 is different though, as it isn’t even available for M-mount and the casing design also differs a lot from their M-mount lenses. Like the M-mount lenses it is also made by DJ-Optical though. How is the vignetting on the TTArtisans 50mm F1.2? Do you like it? Does it get too sharp for portraits? My experience is that a sharp landscape-type lens is not particularly good for portraits. But super sharp portraits are a style. A trend even.It manages to accomplish something where even some of the fast Voigtlander lenses fail: stopped down it is plenty of sharp across all of the frame. TTartisan 50mm f/1.2 @1.2 – Missed focus on the eye a little bit. (open image in new tab for full size) IMO the TTA 50/1.4 is compelling for better off-axis sharpness wide open and slightly stopped down rendering due to non-ninja-star aperture shape (though unfortunately straight-sided), not to mention the very reasonable price. The TTArtisan 50mm f/1.4 ASPH is better-made than the plastic rubbish offered by Nikon and Sony, and is sharper than my LEICA SUMMILUX 50mm f/1.4.
