One useful aspect is the pad control mode - striking any predefined pad (or external trigger), will act as a controller. For example, a pad may be used to start/stop the metronome or external sequencer, trigger a sample while halting the previous or, conversely, playing a sample and then sounding others over the previous.

Importing samples is as simple as dropping them to an SD card and plugging it into your Sample Pad 4. The samples need to be in the root directory of your card. Two other points to raise (sorry Alesis) are that I had the most incredibly loud mains hum off the unit when it was connected through my studio monitors. I know it wasn”t the power in my studio, so can only assume it was caused by the power supply that comes with it. It was so loud that you may have to consider a hum eliminator if you get one. Yes, THAT loud.
