These G lenses are useless with manual focus cameras. Nikon erroneously specifies 0.75mm thread pitch; I measured it and it's the standard 1.0mm thread pitch for this filter size.

Another scary thing about the 14-24mm, at least to those of us who've been around 14mm lenses for a long time, is that there is almost no falloff (corner darkening) wide open on the D3 full-frame camera! The 14-24mm is far superior to the previous 14mm and 18mm lenses; I can't see any falloff wide open looking at only one image without another for comparison. My 14-24mm f/2.8 AFS is optically perfect on my D300. I'm not saying "perfect" like I call my wife perfect; I'm saying the 14-24mm is so optically perfect its as if Nikon suddenly exempted itself from the laws of optics which have fettered us for the past 150 years. These adapters also usually don't work on full-frame cameras, which again makes the pretty useless. Optics: The Nikon Z 14-24mm f2.8 S has 16 elements in 11 groups including 4 special dispersion elements and 3 aspherical elements. This is similar to the F-Nikkor (14 elements in 11 groups) but with a higher number of special elements. To reduce reflections causing flare, glare and ghosting both Z-Nikkors and the F-Nikkor employ Nikon’s Nano-coating but only the Z 14-24mm f2.8 S profits from the new “ARNEO” anti-reflective coating. Both Z-Nikkors also have fluorine-coating on the front element to repel water, dust, and dirt and make cleaning easier. [+] If you’re in the market for a top end Nikon wide angle zoom, you’ll have no doubt narrowed it down to either the 14-24 or the 16-35 VR. But which to get? One is legendary in sharpness from f2.8 onwards but the other is a bit cheaper, has more range and VR. But do you really need VR on a lens like this, or do you really need f2.8 on what many would consider is ultimately just a landscape lens that you’d stop down anyway?
