I'm definitely a fan of the final model and will be picking one up when i see a good gift with purchase or double points offer. Due to her wearing green garb and being an archer, I get the feeling she might be aligned to the Forestmen, which were usually presented as enemies of the Black Falcons. As for the curved half-timbers, those are a simple and elegant solution to the problem of how to mount the half-timbers diagonally in a set-quality build. I do not care for the revised design, especially the brighter colors and the less weathered appearance. For unknown reasons, there were two Black Falcon shields included in the Harry Potter Durmstrang ship, a similar shield appeared in 10223 Kingdoms Joust, and in Nexo Knights, Clay Moorington had a very similar crest.

I’m also interested to see how much this set builds on the classic LEGO Castle style with the detailing and minifigures. The small roof uses the same parts and colors which we will discuss more when we get to the roof of the third floor.

It also feels like very good value for money when you have the final model in front of you, especially given its impressive dimensions: fully-built, 21325 Medieval Blacksmith stands 27cm tall, 27cm wide and 21cm deep. Construction of the first floor requires a smaller number of pieces than the first, but they are still sub-divided into three bags. Even if they had made it a much more narrow post, or series of posts, it would have been a lot better, but as it stands, it just isn’t believable.

Moving alongside the side of the house is a bit of detailing that deserves way more credit than people realise.I know they don't really make themes out of ideas sets, but people have been crying out for a medieval theme for forever. They also add a horse-drawn carriage to the mix and few more figures, but otherwise, compared to the exterior, LEGO stayed pretty true to the source material. If I had to guess, the blacksmith is the type who adamantly/stubbornly insists on doing it himself but never actually has the time to get around to it. Concerning the horse coat, my guess would be that the designers chose that color thinking of the dun coat of some rustic breeds such as the Fjord or the Henson. LEGO doesn’t even shortcut the far wall where the timber storage would be, still squeezing in a window to the outside world. I do look forward to seeing someone mod it to include red terracotta tiles though, as that could look fantastic. I enjoy how the roof colors make me think of St Stephen’s in Vienna, albeit much less dramatic in its tilework.I would 100% recommend it to anyone thinking about getting it, but the only thing that is negative for me is the carriage itself, which both I and my wife disagree on. However, as a wildlife enthusiast, I'm dismayed at your lack of awareness of the existence of bears throughout southern France, northern Italy and Germany in the Middle Ages! But it is the question what you expect or whether you like it and whether you can not use your money better. It includes a blacksmith, archer and 2 Black Falcon Knights and a 3-level building with a removable roof, an apple tree and a well. Compare it to the Modular Buildings Collection, though – as we have throughout this review – and it stacks up just fine.
