Manual cameras had the same "sensor", the same JPEG engine (in a basement), no IBIS, no screen. Many had no battery at all and the shutters were mostly pathetic (compared to expensive cameras then and all cameras today). Digital IS (Image Stabilisation) is on by default and part of the IS settings, so that you have options of M-IS 1 (IBIS and Digital), M-IS 2 (IBIS only), and IS Off. The E-PL7 has a more traditional rangefinder-style body, complete with a built-in grip, rather than the older models' screw-in ones". Why did Olympus eliminate the larger grip option?

While it's never going to be a sports camera, the burst shooting speeds are still impressive –the mechanical shutter is rated at 8.7fps (we managed to squeeze 9fps out of it) and with the electric shutter you can get up to 15fps. Depending on the subject the AF keeps up very well,but don't expect to use this for birding. Colours can also be difficult to assess when you’re shooting outside. In the default settings, the E-P7 produces pretty punchy, saturated Jpegs and more natural-looking raw files. Both are attractive in their own way. The Color/Monochrome Profiles also create some attractive results, which when combined with the aspect ratio control make for nice sharable images.It's been an awful long wait for a new Olympus camera, so has the E-P7 been worth the patience? Well, it depends what you're looking for in a camera. Hello, I received my E-P7 just last week and have been enjoying it. I've never used the legendary PEN-F's (analog or digital), but I did have E-PL9 and I can say this is an upgrade to that camera. On the surface, it just looks like it rehashed a bunch of features from other cameras. However, it's most notable feature is its weight at just 337g (including battery). It's significantly lighter than ALL current PEN or OMD cameras, yet it has the legendary 5-axis IBIS. The other two notable features are the creative color features from the PEN-F and twin dials. Finally, it offers excellent 4k video, something the PEN-F never had. Thanks John... I had a nice answer but blogger wiped it when I pressed publish... OMD missed an opportunity of having one of the most exciting street photography cameras. It's minimalist, basic menus, top IQ, NOOO viewer, all plastic (why not EM10 III quality)... DXo PhotoLab 4.xx doesn't support the EP7 yet. Hope they do before year's end. Without it, you can't use the nice DXO PRIME noise reduction. Great DOA camera. Seems Olympus marketing is detached from the market. Great if they can go the Fuji way but I believe they'll fail.

It would be nice if these different colour treatments could be more unified so that they can be accessed, activated and adjusted in the same way. Also, do they really need three different names? The Art Filters and Color/Monochrome profiles are effectively Picture Control modes with a few additional options such as the ability to add a frame or vignetting – depending upon which one you have selected. In 4K mode you can adjust the frame rate, but not the bit rate, in Full HD you can adjust both with options of Super Fine, Fine, and Normal, however the camera does not tell you what the bit rate is. Honestly, Oly lost their way with the PL series after the introduction of the PL2.
