Description

Although it looks a lot like its predecessor, the X-T5's body is slightly smaller, with a slightly more finger-shaped indentation at the top of the hand grip and a more relaxed slope to the viewfinder hump. It retains the look of a classic SLR, though. It's also around 50g (.11 lbs) lighter than the X-T4. The X-T5 sports the same 40MP BSI CMOS chip as its sibling, the X-H2, and is capable of the same outstanding class-leading APS-C image quality. Studio scene So while the burst speed on the X-T5 is the same as the X-H2, the actual burst depth becomes another differentiator. If you’re happy to shoot JPEG-only bursts, I don’t think you’ll find it an issue in practice, but RAW shooters will need to think about whether 20 frames at a time with pauses afterwards as they fully-flush will be sufficient.

Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens. To be clear, you will see a difference versus the 26mp sensor whichever lens you use but the optimum results will be seen when using the red badge or newest lenses that are optimized to get the best out of the higher resolution sensor.

Body

The latest X-H2 and X-H2S have now taken the pressure from the X-T series to be all things to all people, and allowed the X-T5 to return to its roots as a photo-oriented camera. For photographers, the X-T5 is like an X-T series 'greatest hits' collection. You get the three-way tilt-screen and dual memory card slots of the X-T2 and X-T3. Unfortunately, you also get the same 3.69 million-dot EVF (with 0.8x magnification) as the X-T4, which is perfectly fine if a step down from the X-H2. Inside, there's also a boosted version of the X-T4's in-body image stabilization system, which promises 7.5 stops of compensation. Fujifilm announce the latest mirrorless digital camera to join the X Series line-up, which boasts improved image quality, ISO 125 as standard sensitivity, the fastest shutter speed of 1/180000sec and the use of Pixel Shift Multi-Shot to expand photographic variations. Although they share similar key specifications and features, the Sony A6700 and the Fujifilm X-T5 actually differ a lot when it comes to their appearance and control layout, with the former model also being priced lower than the latter. They evoke the look and feel of yesteryear film photography very effectively and, coupled with accurate metering and good dynamic range, enable great results straight off the camera without the need for extensive post-processing. The X-T5 comes with 19 Film Simulation modes, including “Nostalgic Neg.,” characterised by its high saturation and soft tonality. Beyond the reduced burst size and slower flush time, most of these will only be issues for videographers and again resolved by the X-H2 and S. Even as a hybrid shooter though, I wouldn’t personally regard any of them as deal-breakers on the 5. movies can be recorded internally at 30P in 4:2:2 10-bit color. X-T5 features the 4K HQ mode, which uses 6.2K over-sampling to produce high-quality video, while making the maximum advantage of the high-resolution sensor to deliver video in superior image resolution. These two cameras take a markedly different approach in terms of their design and control layout, with the A6700 following the long-established rangefinder-esque format of the A6000-series cameras and fewer manual controls than the XT5. Fujifilm have used a 3-way tilting LCD on the X-T5 with a resolution of 1.84M-dots, making it the highest-res screen of any current Fujifilm APS-C camera.MyReality I'm not sure I understand, but perhaps we are talking pixel count. The A7rIV/V are 60MP sensors with 9504 pixels across the sensor. The Canon is 45MP and the A1 50MP so have less pixels over a subject that covers a fixed % of the sensor (which is a focal-length thing, a 600mm lens will make a subject a certain size on the sensor, regardless of sensor size, how many pixels cover it is down to how large/small the pixels are). Does that help? Here I used the X-T5’s bird recognition AF, and shot in 24MP crop mode. Price The X-T4 became their most capable all-rounder to date, but by trying to be all things to all people, had arguably lost some of its original charm and appeal. When Fujifilm introduced the X-H1 as a new flagship, I was initially confused, but now with the X-H2 and X-T5, their strategy has become clear.

Once I’d enabled IBIS on the X-T5, I could enjoy the same result at ⅙, corresponding to four stops of compensation, although if I return to the stabilised image at ⅙ and swap it for a version taken one stop slower at 0.3 seconds, it still looks pretty good. So I’d say it gave me four to five stops in practice, at least with this lens. For still photographers, the Fujifilm X-T5 is the most capable and one of the most enjoyable APS-C cameras in 2023 thanks to a class-leading high-resolution sensor, a time-tested and well-matured design, and a competent autofocus system that we hope has scope to get better with age (via firmware). Overall, I’m just not convinced this is worth the hassle and card space. It’s certainly nowhere near as practical as Olympus/OM System and Panasonic’s implementations, which are both very usable. Then again, it’s not as if you need more than 40MP very often, anyway. Fujifilm X-T5: ISO and noise

Even in regular 8-bit JPEG quality mode, the Auto Dynamic Range option in Image Quality menu works well for high-contrast scenes, helping to retain detail in very bright highlights and really deep shadows for a more balanced-looking exposure. Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements andoptically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect theimagery.Ultimately, the X-T5 represents the outcome of open dialogue between Fujifilm and diehard customers. While the X-T4 remains a fantastic and relevant model, its fully articulated rear screen and increased focus on video didn't sit well with the stills-only crowd, and they made it known. The result? Fujifilm's most capable stills-oriented model to date is also one of the best APS-C cameras we've ever tested. And for these reasons, it deserves our Gold award. A new feature of the camera is the 1.84-million-dot three-way tilting LCD. It makes it easy to shoot in vertical position or at waist level, liberating users from constraints in a wide range of photographic situations. In comparison, the X-T5 can only manage a relatively meager 119+ JPEGs or 19 RAW files before the continuous shooting rate starts to slow down. Body The body features two SD Card slots which take the UHSII cards, the same as the XT4. Interestingly there is also a “No memory card warning“ in the camera – a new, but welcome, feature I’ve not seen before. The camera also features a 3D level rather than the simple horizontal level. Although video is not the priority for this camera you can now record 10-bit 4:2:2 video at 6.2K/30P.
