I rather enjoyed how the magician would lose his temper with poor behaviour (Hamish Bigmore often falls victim) and cast various spells on pupils then apologise profusely but never know how to reverse the damage.

It was adapted into a children's television series of the same title and produced for the ITV network by TVS.Mr Majeika may teach at St Barty’s, an ordinary primary school, but he’s no ordinary teacher… Mr Majeika is a wizard!

The kids love them so much that they are begging me to continue reading even when the bell goes for lunch. Their doubts that Mr Majeika is not all he seems are confirmed when he turns an egg and bacon flan into chips, and they are told that Mr Majeika was not a teacher before he came to St. This is particularly because of its ‘superhero’ feel like nature and magical element that children feel that they can relate to and would definitely recommend it. Both of these characters are also in the books, but Melanie is a much less important and very different type of character in the books, and is replaced by another character as female lead, Jody.

The pupils in Class 3 at St Barty's School are not impressed when their headteacher imposes strict rules of behavior for Halloween. She loves stories set in schools and Mr Majeika's magic that gets class 3 in (and out of) all sorts of trouble is a lot of fun. Comment: The spine or cover may be slightly worn but the book is otherwise in good condition and will provide thought provoking read! Read this to my son as I remembered it from childhood, though have a feeling I may be thinking of the TV show.

Things get worse whilst Mr majeika is trapped when Wilhelmina Worlock takes the opportunity to turn Class Three's classroom into a circus and the children spend all afternoon running away from lions and alligators! Mr Majeika and Class Three find themselves in a creepy hotel near Hadrian's Wall, where some very spooky things start to happen.
