Tom hasn't had luck in the past with animals, but this fox fascinates him, and he spends more time outdoors in hopes of seeing her again. For all you teacher friends out there- this book would be fabulous for teaching character development! Tom, from the town, is so excited by seeing the black fox with the green eyes that he goes out every day hoping to see her again. I am charmed when Mom chides Tommy, 'You don't try to like new things' and Tommy answers, 'You shouldn't have to try to like new things.
