Description

A Death Ray is a ferocious weapon most commonly found as the primary weapon for Doom Scythes. The Death Ray is aptly named and rightly feared, for there is seldom a warning before the weapon strikes, for any sound it makes is lost under the unearthly wailing of the Doom Scythe's engines. A particularly alert foe might recognise the nimbus of energy building up around the focusing crystal, or the abrupt change in air pressure; but few recognise the significance in time. The Crypteks have developed countless disciplines of techno-sorcery, down through the aeons. Further, each individual Cryptek makes its own unique advancements in its chosen expertise. As such, it is unlikely for two Crypteks to ever wield quite the same abilities and weapons. Nevertheless, the Necrons place great store in such things, and his position within the dynasty is for now assured. Veil of Darkness - With a simple wave of its skeletal hand, the Cryptek can summon a billowing sheet of almost tangible shadow, enveloping it and nearby allies before disappearing along with the enshrouded Necrons. When the darkness ebbs, the Cryptek and his comrades have disappeared, only to rematerialise some distance away. The powers unleashed can even reduce a Necron to a smouldering pool of molten metal. When used against organic life forms, the blast is capable of bypassing even Terminator Armour, often causing the victim to simply explode into clouds of flaming ash.

After both sides have deployed, but before you have determined who will have the first turn, you must assign a different one of the command protocols below to each of the first five battle rounds, and note this down secretly on your army roster. Every Cryptek conclave specialises in a particular field of techno-sorcery in one of a hundred thousand disciplines. These conclaves were originally founded to share information and expertise amongst Necron settlements from one end of the galaxy to the other, but have since become fragmented and isolated. Necron starships have also been armed with extremely large variants of the Particle Whip. These ship-sized Particle Whips are used during void combat to launch devastating strikes upon enemy vessels.Even fired at low power, a Doomsday Cannon is a fearsome weapon; when firing at full effect, its searing energy beams burn many times hotter than more conventional Plasma Weapons. Infantry squads caught in the Doomsday Cannon's fury are obliterated instantly whilst armoured vehicles are reduced to glowing slag. In the face of a shot from a Doomsday Cannon, nothing less than a Titan's void shields can hope to offer more than a fool’s hope of protection. The Harbinger of Eternity is the foremost servant of the Suhbekhar Dynasty blessed with knowledge of this perilous field, and he wields such power as not even the overlord-regent is fully aware. A Particle Shredder mounted underneath a Triarch Stalker; note that most Necron Particle Weapons can be characterised by the similar barrel and muzzle design. A Cutting Beam is a weapon only utilised by the insect-like constructs known as Canoptek Acanthrites. The Cutting Beam mounted within an Acanthrite's thorax is capable of firing a short range, highly-concentrated shaft of thermic energy ray that is able to slice apart the toughest of materials, dissecting steel, stone and flesh with equal ease and with the precision of a surgeon’s scalpel blade. A Cryptek is one of the technologists and engineers of the Necron species, and they are responsible for studying and maintaining the technology of the Necron dynasties. A Cryptek's powers mirror that of the psykers found amongst the other intelligent species of the galaxy.

The chronomancer's role within the royal court is to collate the predictions of its astrologer and other prognosticators and to advise his master on how those events deemed contrary to the interests of the Suhbekhar might be avoided or otherwise manipulated.If every unit from your army (excluding DYNASTIC AGENT, C’TAN SHARD and UNALIGNED units) is from the same dynasty, and you select a NECRONS CHARACTER model to be your WARLORD, this unit is eligible to benefit from this ability and the following rules apply. A more traditional Necron feel, this army brings as many guns as it can. You can fill out your core with Necron Warriors with a mix of weapons–Gauss Reapers on Necron Warriors are a great weapon, and this dynasty’s trait helps by enhancing its range by 25%. It’s a valid tactic just about anywhere, but Mephrit makes it especially dangerous: a character with the Veil of Darkness can jump itself and 20 Reaper Warriors into position and light up most targets, boosted by stratagems to increase wounds (via Disintegration Capacitors) and/or inflict mortal wounds (via Talent for Annihilation) if need be. The increased range means units that deny “deep strike” mechanics within 12″ won’t stop you. Another option is Tomb Blades, which offer tough mobile shooting and can also be great objective grabbers/harassers, especially since they don’t crumble to dust like Scarabs tend to. Illuminor Szeras - The enigmatic Cryptek Plasmancer known as Illuminor Szeras is one of the most reviled beings in the whole galaxy. Both hated and envied by the other Necrontyr, it was Szeras' twisted genius that ultimately made the process of biotranference a reality, and condemned the whole Necrontyr civilisation to an eternal undeath. Uncaring, the megalomaniac Szeras only saw the sacrifice of his people as the first step of his own ascension to C'tan-like godhood. In the 41st Millennium, Szeras still labors toward that goal, seeking to unravel the last mysteries of life that escape him. Despite being distrusted and reviled by the majority of his peers and Necron royalty, Szeras' knowledge is so vast, and the help he can grant so potent, that few Nemesors refuse his assistance nor its price when offered. Can only set up within Engagement Range of enemy units that are already within Engagement Range of the Reanimated model's unit. An Eldritch Lance's beam is most effective when used to incinerate armoured vehicles and heavily armoured infantry, for only the heaviest forms of vehicle armour are able to stop its passage without being vaporised.

To date, the court chronomancer of the Suhbekhar has kept his concerns to himself, for to admit he is anything other than omniscient would seriously erode his power and influence.

A Gauss Cannon is larger than the more common Gauss Flayers and Gauss Blasters, and consists of four barrels instead of the one for the Gauss Flayer and the two for the Gauss Blaster. Gauss Cannons fire more powerful beams than Gauss Flayers, and are more similar to Gauss Blasters in strength. However, Gauss Cannons have a better capability to be fired on the move, and shots from Gauss Cannons also contain greater armour penetration abilities; being able to rip through even Astartes power armour with ease. They are extremely potent against infantry and light vehicles alike. Necrodermis - Like all Necrons, Crypteks are composed of the living metal called necrodermis, which allows them to self-repair even catastrophic amounts of damage. What a Cryptek often accomplishes with their technology is nothing short of magical to the eyes of the "lesser" intelligent peoples of the galaxy. Staff of Tomorrow - This unique example of advanced Necron time manipulation technology exists a fraction of a second ahead of any given moment in the normal space-time continuum. This property allows Orikan to strike at his target an instant before the foe even moves to do so. The Staff of Tomorrow can also penetrate all known forms of infantry armour, in a similar way to a Power Weapon, further enhancing its devastating effect in melee.

If the number of dice in that pool is greater than or equal to the Wounds characteristic of any of the reassembling models, select one of those models to be Reanimated. A Reanimated model: Rahkoz, the so-called "Harbinger of Eternity," is a Necron Cryptek and the court chronomancer of the Suhbekhar Dynasty of the Jericho Reach.Whereas a focused beam is akin to a Melta Weapon with a significant range, the dispersed beam is more similar to a Heavy Flamer in terms of the potential damage it can inflict. If every model in an INFANTRY unit is on or in an Area Terrain feature with this trait, then it can either Hold Steady or it can Set to Defend (see below) when an enemy unit declares a charge against it. A Tachyon Arrow is an intricate wrist-mounted directed energy weapon worn by Necron royalty like Necron Overlords, Necron Lords and Necron Destroyer Lords. When activated, it transmutes a sliver of inert metal into an unstoppable thunderbolt capable of piercing the heart of a mountain.
