Atmos sound bars are still expensive but I’m guessing like OLED it will come down in price every year and become the norm, right now you have to pay a premium or either buy an AVR system but that isnt practical with some users who want less wires and hassle.

Via the DM100, The Expendables 3 becomes an absolute assault on the senses with guns firing, bullets pinging, bells ringing, helicopter blades whirring, train carriages rattling and more. The soundbase presents this sonic storm with assurance and clarity, so that you’re aware of each effect without feeling overwhelmed. Consequently you feel fully engaged with the movie. Alike a full-sized home cinema speaker, the Canton DM75 Soundbase has a three-way base reflex layout. It comes with nine chunky buttons, two drivers, four woofers, two fabric tweeters, and Bluetooth 4.0 with apt-X. Its DTS TruSurround, on-board Dolby Digital decoding and DTS processing technology are great for TVs and soundbars like this. This great one-box setup creates an ultimate room filling sound space without any rear speakers and is easy to setup. But for soundbases build quality is more important than looks, and on that score the DM75 is a winner. Its high-density fibreboard bodywork is remarkably sturdy, allowing it to support TVs up to 40kg in weight. The DM50 was designed for TVs up to 40in, but the DM75 is suited to anything larger – provided it’s lighter than 40kg and its stand fits within the DM75’s top surface. Our 55-inch Samsung set sat snugly on top, even with its unusual four-pronged stand. Highs are clear and sharp, but amid new competition can teeter on the edge of brightness at volume. It’s not uncomfortable, but it does add to the slight feeling of fragility when compared to the likes of the Solo 15 and Geneva Model Cinema.

If you own a whopping great TV and want to boost its sonic potential, there aren’t many better ways of doing it than the DM100. With its immense power, gorgeous detail and snappy dynamics, it’s the closest you’ll come to a proper home-cinema experience without buying a receiver and 5.1 speakers. There are a few minor sonic issues, but nothing that can’t be ironed out with a little tweaking. To access the advanced sound settings, hold down the “play mode” or “sound” buttons and use the volume keys to turn them on and off. The setup menu is predictably basic on the three-digit display, but it’s better than the cryptic flashing lights used by other soundbases.For day-to-day operation you can carry on using your TV’s remote thanks to the IR learning function, just one of many user-friendly features that make the DM100 a pleasure to work with. Canton DM100 – Performance But when I demoed with the sub connected at richer sounds the quality for music improved, so I can imagine if I connect bk xls400 with this I will have the best of both worlds. I went for the LG for ascetics and ease of use with my LG B8, no handshakes issues yet with any devices unlike the Samsung MS650 I had. It maybe not the best reviewed or top of class, that probably goes to the n950, but it’s good enough for my environment and I’ve had zero connectivity issues with my devices. Just bought a canton dm75 today after downgrading from my tannoy v4i 5.0 and Sony 1040 because didn't have much space in my room and also decorating my room and didn't want to much speaker wires all over the room.
