It's ideal for lovers of the outdoors, but we think anyone can take advantage of this handy little accessory. The cot complies with British Safety Standards and is suitable for babies and children with see through mesh panels. Once both poles are threaded through you have to bend them into arcs to give the cot its unique structure.

The great thing about the Littlelife Arc 2 is that it’s designed like a tent so your child is close to the ground at all times – and there's no chance of them falling out.Perhaps a little unusual compared to traditional travel cots, the Arc 2 is a simple but cleverly designed tent. It might also help to use your baby’s familiar cot sheets instead of the new one provided (which is green and might feel strange or distracting). I found it also made the cot ultra dark for summer sleeping - really good if you’re travelling without blackout blinds or camping and you don’t want to be up at sunrise. In terms of general use, this cot could be used for short trips away or for longer holidays abroad but not used in place of a regular newborn bed. In general, the main issue that we encounter when travelling is that family rooms provide single beds as additional beds.

The LittleLife Arc2 travel cot is genuinely one of the best pieces of travel equipment we bought for Rosalin – she first started using it when she was three months old and still happily sleeps in it now.The Arc 2 is great for seasoned travellers who need a lightweight travel cot which won’t take up half the carboot or weigh you down on the train or plane. Our tester tried the cot at home both indoors and in the garden and felt that it was more suited to outdoor life, which could put some parents off. This is despite the fact that the mattress does not at first glance appear to be thick enough to be suitable for a little baby. While its design makes it look flimsier than it actually is, this travel cot is surprisingly robust.

I decided to go for one that is perhaps less of a traditional cot and more of a tent: the Little Life Arc 2. The only tricky bits I have found are putting the fitted sheets on (they are a bit tight) and putting it up in a confined space.

Although the Arc 2 is very light, it could be less bulky if the mattress was made as an inflatable mattress. What it has been designed for is off-the-beaten track travel, for being packed up and moved around and for use in hot, humid countries with night-time mosquitoes.
