She’d assigned Grey more pet names over the course of their first meeting than Grey had heard from her own mother in her entire life. At first Ethan seems to have the most problems, dealing with his reclusiveness, drinking and grief for what he has lost. So when her team suggests that she enter into a fake relationship with an established actor in need of some good PR, Grey isn't sure what to think.this would've been better if it was enemies to lovers, or friends to lovers, or if they had more awkward/funny/embarrassing interactions of idk, just something to spice them up. Addiction, child star molestation, dark side of fame were triggering subjects which were honestly approached but even the execution of fake relationship parts were a little messy! I don’t exactly remember how and when I first came across How to Fake It in Hollywood, but after reading the synopsis, I immediately added it to my TBR.

Ava Wilder’s addictively compelling debut sounds like the fluffiest and lighthearted of rom-coms, it’s exploration into the struggles of alcoholism and grief whilst trying to build healthy relationships really made. Kelly turned her face up at Grey with a look of such naked vulnerability that Grey’s heart ached a little. Grey and Ethan’s relationship feels genuine in its messiness and complications, and Ava Wilder’s breathtaking depiction of their highs and lows had me totally invested in their fate. A juicy affair with a gorgeous actress might be just the ticket, even if it's the last thing he wants to do.Like, he went to rehab and isolated himself for a while, but after getting his POV with his struggles, we get no POV of his recovery, and that just made me sad.

Soon, the couple made it red carpet official by attending one of Brooks's former 𝘗𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘦 co-star's movie premiere together. Sure, there are some funny scenes, but beyond its bright cover, it’s truly messy, melancholic, and most of the time pensive.
