Many reviewers were put off by Ferrazzi's "boastful" accounts of his own networking prowess. True, most of his real-life anecdotes are from his own life and not from other people's. He does sometimes go on about all his famous and powerful friends and his shiny networking achievements. However, the author's stories reflect his proactive and continued quest to build meaningful connections, despite his humble working class beginning. Ferrazzi realized early in life the importance of relationships and has since worked out ways to mitigate the difficulties of starting and maintaining connections (warm the cold calls, follow up, provide social arbitrage, and don't keep score, etc.)

Ferrazzi specifically advises that everyone should talk to at least 50 people per day. This ensures that you get enough new social activity to stimulate your networking muscles and you are suitably seen throughout all levels of your organization. The more you focus on your network, the bigger and better it will get.Ferrazzi explains the importance of doing your homework before you meet any new people. You want to leave them with a good lasting impression. The best way to do this is to research who they are, what their business is and what else is important to them. Researching people should be easy enough, google their name and see what you can find. The goal is to build a personal relationship that will benefit you both. Cold calls and warm calls Ferrazzi claims that the myth of the self-made man is more harmful than it is helpful. The truth, in his eyes, is that no one succeeds alone and all worthy endeavors are undertaken by teams that support one another and help a project or business reach its maximum potential.
