The lines between fiction and life are slightly blurred in this novel: Finlay is a character, but she is also a writer herself, and later in the story she uses the crimes she’s been involved in as inspiration for her new book. Book #2 in the Finlay Donovan series gave me everything I expected and was looking for...except for her beloved wig scarf. 😢 Consider the theme of women supporting women. What examples of this did you see in the story? Did any of these instances surprise you? Why?Cosimano has created a delightful supporting cast. Early in her efforts, Finlay acquires a partner in crime, her part-time babysitter Vero, a college student who learns about her secret life and decides to join her on this wild ride. In addition, Finlay has two romantic interests, and we are left guessing as to which of them will “get the girl.” Finally, there are some high-quality vicious criminals who keep the story moving. Most importantly, Cosimano continues to remind us that even paid killers have lives outside the workplace. Also, I didn't like the addition of the Vero storyline. It felt like it was just thrown in to make her problematic cause she was such gold in the first book. She could have stayed that way to make a juxtaposition of Finlay's stupid ass. But whatever. That’s kinda what makes these stories such a delight for me. No one would get away with what Finlay and Vero do time and time again, but half the fun is the creative ways in which Cosimano can get these two out of the messes they make, and they are some doozies! First of all, I just want to say that I am a library clerk for a small library, and almost every single one of our patrons loves this book. I couldn't find time to read it, but I am so glad I decided to listen to it here because the narrator was amazing by herself. The variety of voices for each character made me smile, and the emotion and expression that she put into each one was incredible. I love mysteries!!! This was a refreshing take on a plot for a mystery book!! It wasn’t too dark or suspenseful. I really enjoyed the playful and comedic approach/flavor to a mystery book. I had a hard time putting it down!! It was like Bridget Jones meets Girl on a Train!!

An investigation with ties to the Russian mob follows as Finlay attempts to discover and develop her new self, alongside a cast of characters including her nanny and partner-in-crime, Vero, her ex-husband and his new fiance, and two new men of interest — a law student/bartender and a detective involved in the investigation.Cosimano never takes her foot off the gas… We loved this book’s perfect combination of over-the-top excitement and laugh-out-loud humor… Finlay Donovan Is Killing It is a screwball comedy for the modern age and a fun murder mystery rolled into one.” Finn has no idea who posted this!!
