Description

Users can now sync tempo with external hardware using Ableton Link over both wired and wireless networks. Once Ableton Link has been enabled, an orange link icon will be shown in the top right of the toolbar providing the number of linked devices, sync lead tempo, and phase meter showing the current beat position. When synced, the tempo will match the tempo of the longest playing device. The lead tempo can be adjusted from any device and all other linked devices will automatically follow. Full 4-Channel Standalone – Unlike previous Pioneer offerings the OPUS-QUAD offers full 4-channel standalone capability. An excellent option for Pioneer fans that want access to all 4 channels without the need for a laptop. The output from the Go (master RCA and XLR out) were measured with a PicoScope 5000-series digital oscilloscope set to 16-bit resolution. Although this is hardly a high-performance audio analyzer it is more than adequate for this job.

We have produced a 75-minute video manual and training tutorial on the Denon DJ Prime GO, that goes through every feature, function and setting: It has many of the latest features to grace the Pioneer lineup. The most notable and obvious is the huge 10.1” touch screen, which has a high resolution and framerate that truly gives it a premium feel. Here’s the thing. Small versions of “serious” gear often feel at best like also-rans, at worse, like cheap consumer versions of that bigger gear. Not here. While this isn’t, of course, particularly cheap, it is built just as well as the more expensive Denon DJ Prime gear. It is a dream to DJ on, albeit a bit fiddly (although the small jogs don’t bother me at all). In all ways, it feels like “pro” gear to DJ on – just shrunk. Strangely maybe, the small jogwheels didn’t worry me at all – and I thought they might. New Main FX for Denon DJ Hardware - over 25 new and enhanced FX (many of the same FX featured on the RANE FOUR)Telling people to leave their trim-gain knobs at one physical rotation spot (or narrow range) is bad advice. That only worked for him because he was using test signals of known level. The above all seems a more than fair compromise for such a tiny unit, and the feature set overall means the unit is perfectly capable of being used to DJ in a professional environment. Some may remember the Stanton SCS4 DJ, which was an early and brave attempt at this kind of device but that, despite showing promise, was ultimately both aheads of its time and underpowered; this certainly feels like that kind of product coming of age. Fantastic Screen – The Denon Prime 4 Plus offers an exceptional screen. Large, bright, and with touch controls. Once you get your head around how to navigate through the menus, it becomes a joy to use.

But overall, it doesn’t have the main benefits of the other two Pioneers: higher quality jog wheels, and a full suite of DJM effects. Perfect for all Types of DJ

Outside of a single AUX input, there are no connections for external devices. This is meant to be an “in the box” device, so you won’t find RCA ports for turntables or CDJs. You can use it with your laptop as a controller, but only with Rekordbox in performance mode… there’s no Serato this time. If you require the extra two channels, external inputs, or access to streaming services… choose the PRIME 4. Otherwise, it’s mostly a matter of taste. The Engine 3.1 update offers DJs freedom like they’ve never had before, from interactive touch FX to creating your own unique Smartlist.

Removing the laptop tether not only frees you of some cost… it also frees you of potential issues that are out of the manufacturer’s control. For example, you don’t have to worry about some Windows/Mac OS update, or weird driver issues, getting in the way of playing music. Obviously if you don’t have a modern laptop, and have no intention of getting one, a regular old DJ controller isn’t going to help. These standalone systems require nothing but some music (and a set of headphones) to get you DJing. Engine OS units include pre-loaded sampler content with drum kits, scratch phrases and sound effects. Except price, the main determining factor in choosing a standalone DJ system is deciding which platform to go with. That is… what kind of DJ library do you want to manage, and what software do you wanna use to do it? Also the unit wasn't turning on after I turned it off , after 1 h I repress the button and it turned on battery at 70 % , a friend was guessing it was emptyAll things being equal, if given no other info, this would be my general recommendation for a Pioneer standalone unit. The PRIME 2 also doesn’t have external inputs for turntables or CDJs, and it is missing the four Sweep FX (the knob controls a filter only). And while it does support Virtual DJ, Serato is out.
