I loved where Jonathan Stroud took this series and the conclusion of the epidemic hauntings. Well done! The Empty Grave is a dark but heartfelt finale that closes the curtain on a phenomenal series. Recommended for all ages 10+.

Of course, we don’t know how Netflix TV show will interpret all this in case the show is renewed. We will have time to have this answer: stay tuned. All of our characters are present (of course) and many of them have moments of revelation during this last book. If you've enjoyed the series to date then I guarantee you will love this final piece of the puzzle. The humor also remained a high point with the Skull delivering some of the BEST lines out of anyone. He may seem harsh and insensitive at times - especially with his constant jabs at Lucy or his frequently expressed desire for more violence along with the deaths of everyone he meets - but he became one of the most enjoyable parts of the entire series. Stroud is married with two children and currently lives in Bath, England. When he's not writing, he enjoys travelling, reading, and playing board games with his family. He has been an inspiration to many aspiring writers and continues to produce captivating and thought-provoking stories that have captured the hearts and minds of young readers worldwide.

But he was still really badly hurt, enough for him to need surgery, so the panic didn't stop there for them (or for me). Stroud honestly has such a refreshing style in that sometimes he doesn't deliver what you expect. And even he doesn't deliver exactly what I want how I want, what he does do ends up blowing me out of the water anyway. The unpredictable nature of his books was just delicious. So many things surprised me and caught me off guard, there were things I didn't even catch or notice until discussing them with someone else and then having a massive moment of realisation. We’ve worked wonders to get here, and we won’t panic now. If we’re right, there won’t be anything to worry about. If we’re wrong, we deal with it, as we always do. […] But we won’t be wrong. We’re on the verge of something big here. It’s going to be good!” hand rested on his rapier hilt. He looked pensive, as if he was gazing into the future & finding something sad. It made my heart hurt to see him.

Finishing a series that you love is like saying goodbye to a great friend who move abroad. Yes, you can see them again, but it won't be the same since there is a sense of finiteness to it. I actually loved how Holly came to have such spunk as time went on but also the joke of her healthy eating all the time was pretty hilarious, I say that because I would do the joking, because I don't eat healthy, at all. Not sorry. But the moments Lucy had with Holly in this one were really nice, and then there were some other very interesting little things hinted to about Holly... ooh... But above all, the ending scene really got me. And this is where we get to talk about my favorite character: the skull.
