We've added a comparison to the recently reviewed Razer Viper V3 Pro in the Comfort of Use section of this review. Forget everything you've ever known about Razer gaming mice - there's no RGB here. While Chroma fans may be disappointed, I'm more than happy to sacrifice a few LEDs for the sake of such a battery increase. Everything about the Razer Viper V2 Pro has been streamlined for performance, and nowhere is that more visible than in the feature list. We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.5. This update adds a new Main Button test group, which provides button actuation data and switch information. We've also made minor changes to how we calculate the Office usage score. If you're a long-time user of the Viper family, the V2 Pro feels like its best evolution yet. It takes all of the high points of previous generations, sands off the few remaining rough edges, and leaves a well-tuned, laser-focused tool for aiming. We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.2. This update simplifies our Weight test and expands on our CPI test from Test Bench 1.1, resulting in changes to test results in both sections. A slider appears parallel to the laser and starts adjusting up and down, highlighting how customizable the sensor is. There’s no easy way to tell how much battery life the Viper V3 HyperSpeed has left, unfortunately — there’s a small battery icon in the upper right corner of Synapse 3, but it only gives you a rough visual estimate of the mouse’s remaining battery life (no percentage). The mouse does have a single LED indicator light in front of the scroll wheel that lights up green when it’s connected to the dongle; this may light up when the mouse’s battery life hits a certain threshold butI have yet to get there (and even if it does, it’s still just a rough visual estimate). The Razer Viper V2 Pro is a strong choice for a gaming mouse, depending on how you intend to use it. I can only recommend this mouse to serious competitive gamers or those that are part of the esports community. Only they would be able to appreciate and notice the performance enhancements the mouse delivers. Even then, I would not recommend it as an all-purpose mouse. This is something you whip out during competition exclusively, as its lithe frame and ergonomics may throw off non-competitive players. Side note: There are cleverly-hidden holes beneath the label and feet. If you'd like to see them, visit BeardedBob's YouTube video on his efforts to make the V2 Pro even lighter. His channel is also a great resource on mouse modding in general. Each time the button is pressed, the PPP on the mouse changes—illustrated by an LED light near the mouse’s scroll wheel which changes from green, to blue, to teal, to yellow.

Troubleshooting

All three of those models mentioned are great mice for the right user, but that user is not one that prioritizes low weight over everything else. It's this exact demographic of gamer that Razer designed the Viper V2 Pro for. We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.4. This update modifies our Hand Size Recommendation test, adding a more granular hand size recommendation chart. The RVU was often called out for having not only some of the smallest feet of its generation of gaming mice, but some of the most sharply angled. Those 90-degree turns and relatively small surface area could create unwanted resistance on softer mousing surfaces. I added some aftermarket feet to my unit to lessen this exact issue. A lightning-fast bolt of green electrical energy surges into the Razer Viper V2 Pro, supercharging it.
