You will need to be an amazing detective to figure this one out!! Isabelle Drake is exhausted and hasn't slept in nearly a year since her toddler son, Mason, was taken during the night. The detectives have no leads so Isabelle spends her time doing research and conducting her own interviews even though the detective has warned her not too. Her obsession with finding Mason is also the reason her marriage to Ben deteriorated. Isabelle has not slept, thus making her an unreliable narrator. She is tired and it affects her memory and recollections. Will talking to a true crime podcaster help her? What does he know about her past? The book looks at both Isabelle in the past and present. One of my most anticipated 2023 releases, this slow-burn mystery thriller with an unreliable narrator by Stacy Willingham does not disappoint.

The novel is told exclusively through Isabella's POV and as she gets to know Waylon better, they begin to work as a team. I’m not as sure about the Margaret subplot. Having it in the book did create a lot of suspense that somehow Isabelle killed Margaret while sleepwalking and did the same to Mason. I had a family member that had night terrors and it was really bizarre how they’d seem “awake” and agitated in the middle of the night and yet not remember anything the next morning. But then again, who am I to talk? I did marry my boss.” “That’s enough,” he says. “I tried to get you to go with me. I tried.”On the night of Alison’s memorial Waylon saw Ben kissing Isabelle. Waylon thinks Ben took Mason. His rationale is that he couldn’t kill two wives without people getting suspicious and that he didn’t want to be a single dad. I remember his lips feeling salty and soft... This is where I threw in the towel for good. You cannot FEEL salty. His lips can TASTE salty. Unless you meant his lips felt grainy, which seems unpleasant, and doesn't fit the context of this ~~romantic~~ scene. Feeling salty... foh!!! The book is very fast paced and the reveals to the different parts of the mystery come at regular intervals that allowed me to remain engaged with the story rather than getting bored. I'm glad I gave Willingham another chance and will be interested to see what she comes up with next. All the Dangerous Things is a psychological thriller about memory and mental health, about questioning your own mind and your own past. Because long before Isabelle lost Mason, she lived with her mother, father and sister, until something happened, something that was covered up and never spoken about. Something that Isabelle knows she was involved in. Isabell confronts Waylon about lying to her. He tells her none of the evidence lines up with somebody from outside taking Mason. There were no foot prints on the carpet no dirt, and the dog didn’t bark.

All the thoughts and opinions are my own.I thought the timeline was a bit all over the place sometimes, but I really enjoyed certain aspects of the writing, the plot, and the overall feel of the book. And I really just like thrillers about cold cases and missing people. Before turning to fiction, she was a copywriter and brand strategist for various marketing agencies. She earned her B.A. in magazine journalism from the University of Georgia and M.F.A. in writing from the Savannah College of Art and Design. But alongside this, Isabelle is also turning her attention inwards, asking long-ignored questions about herself, her past, and what really happened all those years ago.
