What I Disliked: The ending while I will say the ending worked it is a whimper of an ending when I was expecting a bang. It was all so truncated and the answers we really wanted – the why behind Hannah (sociopath or psychopath) were never answered.Baby Teeth is an unexpected LGBTQ+ novel in verse; it takes elements of horror and mixes them with romance, resulting in a changeling of a book that reimagines vampire myths for the twenty-first century. The poignancy and chance for good story telling was just missed, and in the end we are both uncomfortable and bored. If you are looking for an intimate glimpse into the creepy things that can go on behind someone else's eyes, this is the book for you.

As I said, the issue described above — and perhaps a handful of similar ones — were small and largely inconsequential, but still worthy of mention.

Debut author Zoje Stage, crafts incredible characters who each take you on very distinct emotional rides.I didn’t really see the point of the reams of writing that focused on Suzette’s fear of her own Crohn’s disease. It made the tender part in her abdomen twist and squeal in protest and she fanned her fingers, trying to make herself relax. Grehan’s verse novel skilfully charts uncertainty, temptation and the course of a strange, desperate love.

Told from alternating perspectives of a mother and daughter, the novel gives us a glimpse into the not-so-perfect reality of a should-be ideal family.

The daughter of two loving parents, Hanna has been raised since birth by her stay-at-home mother and doted on by her loving father. Hannah is far smarter than an ordinary seven year old, despite her love of the Under-Slumber-Bumblebeast her father reads about and her simplistic, straight-forward “mommy must go” B-horror language.
