Inside the keyboard's box came four accessories: two braided USB-A to USB-C cables, a bridge connector to create the illusion of an Advantage2, and additional spare keycaps. A couple of comments on these accessories: Keycaps: It was great they sent various keycaps. I immediately changed some keys, such as the default ESC to Blank, and replaced the Esc with the Alt key in my right thumb cluster. Personally, I used the GUI to get a basic Colemak layout and then went to code to set more complicated stuff like auto-shift, and a few tap-dance keys that the GUI doesn’t support. And that’s a problem. As powerful as the ZMK software is, and it is very powerful, it’s not accessible to the average Joe. I’m not suggesting you need to be a member of Mensa to use it, or frankly I’d be screwed but it is not simple. Even when you think You have got your keymap sorted, getting the code building via GitHub actions is a route fraught with opaque messages and errors. Definitely not for the feint hearted. And that’s a shame, because the capabilities are incredible. For me, the real confirmation came after an extensive arterial duplex ultrasound examination at a university hospital. Various head rotations, arm and shoulder positions were examined. In some positions the arterial flow in my arm completely disappeared. The examining specialist physician, a professor of medicine and specialised in TOS, called it one of the most clear cut cases of TOS he has ever seen in his career.

But the software story is not great. ZMK is a great project, and if you need help, their people on the Discord are incredibly helpful. I’d just be keen, if Kinesis can fund it, to see a dedicated GUI for dealing with the keymappings. And the same goes for fancy RGB lighting. Personally I couldn’t care less, but at this price, perhaps the absence is enough to turn you off. The Advantage2 was the best keyboard I have had so far. With QMK, it was powerful and highly customizable as well. However, I was still missing a couple of things from the Moonlander MK1 that I wish the Advantage2 had: The key thing to remember when choosing a 360 variant, is that, as of right now, if you want full customisability, you need to opt for wireless, pro, variant of the 360.Note: Always power-on the left module first, then the right module to allow the modules to sync with each other. If the right side is flashing red, power-cycle both modules to re-establish the connection between them. The Advantage360 Professional is the successor to the well-known Advantage2. In this blog post, I will explain the significant design changes and my experiences with Advantage360.

We recommend plugging both modules in to your PC to charge them fully when you first receive the keyboard. Refer to Section 5.6 of the User Manual for more information on the battery level of each module. Let me tell you about the features of this board. First of all, it’s got these lovely keywells. This is really the feature that is synonymous with Kinesis boards. The thumb cluster is very similar to the Advantage 2 and Ergodox, if you have used either of those two. I really wish the home row keycaps had a greater scoop but thankfully, due to the key well, your fingers are largely led to the correct place. This is where the big money goes; key wells Wait 5 seconds and then connect the LEFT module to your PC or use the battery-power switch to power it on (slide away from the USB port)
