Let that be known first and foremost—I think he’s an incredible indie author who has a very bright future in the extreme horror space.

When he accepts a particularly disturbing case in London, Winter arrives to find a psychopath on the loose who likes abducting and lobotomising young women. It's quite disturbing, I really was imagining how terrifying it would be,it's the type of book you lose time in reading. At various points I was almost wanting to shout at the speaker in frustration as to why the main protagonists were not using obvious detection techniques that would’ve allowed them to make progress far more quickly in the investigation. The very end did shake me a bit because it gave an idea of where his "cousin" originally came from, and showed that he probably repeats this cycle pretty often.

Carol has delivered an excellent mystery/thriller that never lets up and is both disturbing and genuinely exciting.

I love finding new authors with a back catalogue to explore and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys dark, pacy crime novels. The thing that wasn't really exploited was the hunter’s killer father and the likelihood that he could go the same way, there could be a darkness to this character that may come in future episodes of his story and that's the intriguing element. I was dreading what was going to happen next but couldn't stop reading because damn i just reading fugged up shit and that's ok 😂. Her team hit dead end after dead end, but only she can see the vital link between the victims: a connection with Katie herself. Several times, I found myself on the verge of nausea, terrified for our protagonists and heart-wrenched by their predicament.I feel extremely privileged to be one of the early readers and I look forward to seeing how future releases grow over time. I genuinely almost DNF'd at one point, (I tapped out at 68% if you're curious 😉) because it was so wrong, so messed up, I didn't want to read about it, I didn't want that particular image burnt into my soul forever more. James Carol’s breakout debut novel takes readers on an action-packed rollercoaster ride that fans of Criminal Minds, Silence of the Lambs, Sleepy Head, and the Jack Reacher and Alex Cross series won’t want to miss.

I read his first work Them a few months ago and absolutely loved it, and I was overjoyed with I found out I’d received an ARC of his latest novella Broken Dolls. It’s just a very mean-spirited body horror, with nothing else beyond the vulgar dialogue, nonstop sexual assault, and mutilation.The antagonist in Broken Dolls is a clever take on the serial killer and a refreshing change to some of the by-the-numbers stuff being churned out. If the book had been any longer, I likely would have DNF, by the end I was skimming pages because I only had less than 30 minutes to go. He starts by yelling insults and accusations at the guy, and then has the guy pinned on the floor of his office, threatening that the officer accompanying him will break his arm if he doesn't tell him what he wants to know. It was lightning fast, never let you catch your breath, which I can appreciate for the subject matter/it being a novella. In Broken Dolls, we are following the story of a mother and her young daughter as they attempt to survive the torture inflicted upon them by a stranger who finds his way into their home.

It IS a tough read, but it's a great read, if you look past all the shocking and vile parts, there's a reason and a story behind it and it will sit on my bookcase, proudly, next to Dead Inside! I hope that I don’t have to use her again but if I do, I know where to get the cutest buddy who has something broken as well. From start to finish it’s packed to the brim full of clever plot twists, brilliant characters and quite frankly scenes that will give me sleepless nights. At various times he has worked as a guitarist, sound engineer, guitar tutor, journalist, and a horse riding instructor.

It immerses readers in a realm where no boundaries are held back, showcasing a visceral display of gore and violence only Mique can conjure up. And lastly, I want to congratulate Mique for his second book and for revitalizing an extreme horror genre with that twisted mind of his we all love so much hh. This is where having a male author writing from a female pov comes into play that men can never understand that a woman would be too scared to do this.
