I have not had extensive periods with many Beyerdynamic headphones but this is something it is easily spotted even in brief listening sessions or quick tests. This peak causes sibilance in parts that are bright of their own nature, making “S” be extremely uncomfortable at times, in tracks like “Only Time” by Enya and “Hope Is A Dangerous Thing” by Lana Del Rey, it can take all the enjoyment out of the track, that is without even considering tracks like “China In Your Hand” by T’Pau, which can be torturous.

Listening to things like piano keystrokes, guitar string plucks or xylophone strikes, they all have a good sense of pressure and tension behind. Producing exceptional sonic quality with elevated flexibility, expect high-end results from the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro Open Back Headphones. I can't tell whether it's solely because of the frequency response that gives this quality, or it is also because the pads fail to dampen resonances in this region given there's only 4 holes on the AP. With their high-quality materials and meticulous workmanship, these high-end headphones are a sound, long-term investment.

It's a bit of an inelegant solution, but it helps noticeably in keeping the drivers away from my ears. If you reduce that peak, the initial reaction would be "oh it's losing what makes the DT1990 brilliant". There were no particular areas of the frequency response that really stood out to me on the DT 1990 Pro.

Additionally, all the moving parts on the headphone’s chassis feel smooth, and they do not feel like they will begin to rattle or loosen up any time soon. In terms of comfort, the weight is not really an issue since the materials used in the ear cups (especially the analytical ones) and the band are of very high-quality. frequency is right in the middle of where sibilance is found in vocals, which is far too easy to be overlooked if the monitoring system you are using does not cover that range well, and personally, I would rather remove to much from there than not enough (always within reason of course).The only complaints I have for comfort is that the clamp force on these is a little high out of the box, and it put a bit of stress on my jaw. Sure the DT1990 is marketed as "reference headphones for mixing and mastering (open)" as per their site.

We’ve reviewed older products like the DT 990 PRO to newer ones like the DT 700 PRO X, both of which are easy to recommend depending on your needs. I will start off by saying that I personally found the DT 1990 Pro’s sound signature to be pretty good.Luckily the DT 1990 actually takes really well to EQ, and they do not retain too much of its original characteristics in the treble. They are also my pair for Gaming and gotta say I was becoming paranoid for first few days because in military simulations where sound effects are just very well made everything was so distinctive that I thought someone is throwing a grenade under my character every single minute.

Both of the included sets of pads provide plenty of comfort, and they use an unbelievably soft velour. You get two cables in the box, one 3-meter straight cable and another coiled cable that can reach 5 meters when stretched out.We listened to record after record with the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro to see what unheard details the headphones would reveal.
