Very good insight to the pair with a fair bit of new info I didn’t know, a difficult but necessary book in my opinion which I liked. Myra's father was abusive, and she ended up defending her mother and sister against him more than once.

Now this book isn’t going to be for everyone, much like horror books/movies, but unlike horror, this has two words that can scare even the toughest of people, True Crime! Whilst this is a harrowing and upsetting story about two deranged individuals the story from a true crime perspective is fascinating. If you need more current details, HBO's fantastic production of "Longford" expounds on this case by recounting Hindley's relationship with naive, well-meaning Lord Longford, who tried to free her from prison.This chronicled their childhoods, their meeting, the crimes they committed, and the justice they were served. Even to the point of having very workable escape attempts planned in Hindleys case with the collusion of many other actors including her Prison Officer lover. The fate that brought two similar monsters together is most definitely a cruel one, and I was relieved that the legal outcome went the way it did. Both this book on Peter Sutcliffe and Happy Like Murderers, about the West family, are obsessive, yet utterly compassionate and honest.

Many years ago I went through a fairly brief interest in reading about high profile murders including these.Williams also makes use of interior monologues to suggest possible explanations as to the killers' motives and state of mind leading up to their crimes. This very personal account of the death of a Cardiff prostitute is the most complex, emotional and moving book on this list. Be prepared to be fully immersed in their worlds, from childhood events all the way to their court case and beyond. Beyond Belief was a bestseller in Britain in the years following its publication and was a main selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club in the United States. On May 6, 1966 the two murderers were sentenced to life imprisonment (capital punishment has been abolished in England).
