If the first card played is a special card, the next suit card to be played determines the suit to be followed for the further round.

There are two ways of scoring in Skull King. I will first describe the less exciting way called The Rascal’s Scoring. My review for Skull King is available here so please go and have a read if you want to know if this is the kind of game you would like. The game presents two different ways of scoring, The Skull King and The Rascal, both of which are fun but I would recommend The Skull King for the best laugh per game played. The Rascals scoring is a more kind game with no negative points awarded whereas The Skull Kings feels really cutthroat and more pirate-y with more excitement and rewards for being brave. Perhaps it’s because we’ve played Skull King so much that we love any little addition or twist here and there. We’ve played many games making up our own twists as well and have had a great time.Displaying the bids this way saves a bit of time after everyone bids because each player adjusts their own cards simultaneously and they don’t have to wait for one person to deal out the number cards after each bid and then recollect them at the end of each round. Another slight change is in how players show their bids for each round. In the prior version, large number cards were distributed to each player showing their bid. In this new version, each player has 2 cards with numbers on them. One card has numbers 0-4 and the other 5-9. After players bid, they then each display their bid by laying one card on the other just under the number of their bid. What You’ll Need to Play Skull King With Cannonball, the player earns 15 points for each card dealt that round (instead of 10) if they get their bid correct. But if they’re off even by 1, then they score 0 that round. Old vs. New escapes and mermaids. 2-Player RulesThe game is played over ten rounds with the first round being played with only one card each and then two cards for the second round, and so on until the tenth round where you play with ten cards each. Obviously I would always recommend people use the official rule book to learn the rules in depth but this blog should give you a really good flavour of how the game flows. In each round, players get as many cards as the number of the current round (e.g., in round No. 1, each player receives one card; in round No. 3, each player gets three cards, and so on)
