The first great English detective novel, Wilkie Collins’ The Moonstone is presented in a Folio Society limited edition of 750 numbered copies. The latter 1963 stereo recording for Capitol Records became the most familiar of the poem's musical adaptations.

By 1883, the Santa Claus made famous by Clement Moore's poem had reached his cultural ascendancy and was as much a part of the American Christmas as gift-giving. We learn in the introduction that this edition is a recreation of the 1954 book, considered the definitive interpretation. In An American Anthology, 1787–1900, editor Edmund Clarence Stedman reprinted the Moore version of the poem, including the Dutch spelling of "Donder" and German spelling of "Blitzen" that he adopted, rather than the version from 1823 "Dunder and Blixem" that is more similar to the old Dutch "Donder en Blixem" that translates to " Thunder and Lightning".

Foster also asserts that Livingston's mother was Dutch, which accounts for the references to the Dutch Sinteklaes tradition and the use of the Dutch names "Dunder and Blixem". Foster also contends that Moore hated tobacco and would, therefore, never have depicted Saint Nicholas with a pipe.

This doesn’t just make the book more immersive – it also has heaps of benefits, from boosting reading confidence to increasing self-esteem.
