Technically, it's an expanded variation on the Mooer Radar: same PA and EQ modes, same number of mics and IR's, even though the Joyo contains 20 IR's only and 10 free slots... Apart from being a well-made, great sounding pedal, this is really simple to use. I don't usually get along with pedals with hyper digital banks and categories and millions of choices. To paraphrase Ron Swanson, “I'm a simple man. I like pretty, dark-haired women, and user-friendly pedals.” Like any real man, I figured this out without the use of a wimpy manual, which pretty much says all you need to know. and this time, it's the Nux which appears to add some reverb/short delay to the sound. IOW, this effect present in Joyo cab sims is somehow present too, in Nux AMP sims. To be honest, I'm not sure to hear it as such: it's the demultiplication of single impulse responses by the amp sim of the Nux which mainly makes me think that Nux has included a kind of reverberation in their power tubes emulation. My frequency analyzer shows this effect clearly (although I won't post the related pic below. Later, maybe). If I put the Joyo as a cab AND PA sim between preamp and power amp, things get better... but only if I don't enable the onboard Joyo PA simulator and EQ: each stage of processing logically slowers the response of the unit. So, I've to use IR's modeling in "one shot" the PA+cabs of my tube amps, as "profiled" by the Nux (!). While reading about the features, it kept saying it had installed Amp sims, Cab sims and IR slots with 10 spots to load your own

The Cab box makes everything about recording or performing so much easier and authentic with a massive array of adjustable parameters to achieve the custom guitar set up of your choice. Last but not least, the Joyo + a pair of good headphones = rewarding "amp in the room" feeling , even when the box is fed by a minimal pedalboard without preamp. That's where the param EQ gets useful IMHO. There is a lot to like about this pedal. I’ll revisit this article again after I’ve put in some serious hours with this processor.The Nux can handle the "hot" signal of a PA feeding a cab... but I've not tried it with a master @ 6/10: if I ever do that (when live gigs will be possible again), I think that I'll put a DI box with a padded output between amp and Solid Studio. Connect to PC through USB, and use matching software to edit tones and update firmware, load or delete third party IRs. More interface and much bigger screen with more buttons compared with similar products. User-friendly the latency seems higher with the Joyo. At least, that's how I understand the impossibility to capture the onboard cab IR's of the Joyo with the Nux... There are 128 cab memory slots to save all of your presets, and three configurable post-EQs: guitar, bass and parametric. There are settings for Gain and Attentuation, Q value, Low and High Pass filtering for the EQ controls.

The power amp sims are a bit overdone IMHO... ALL of them have initially much more bass than any of my tube amps, as well as less extreme high frequencies... but I've been able to match the response of my Marshall, Fender and Vox combos in a few minutes thx to the onboard parametric EQ. the power tube emulation seems more realistic in the Nux when it comes to frequency response. Now, the Joyo can be corrected by its very efficient parametric EQ...I've not yet tried the XLR balanced out nor the MIDI in. I regret the absence of any explanation regarding MIDI settings. classic microphone models - adjusting microphone model, microphone type, microphone angle position & distance.
