To any younger reader reading this, please know that it is not your job to be your boyfriends therapist. Which is what Travis needs severely. A therapist. Can we please stop writing books that encourage the "I can fix him" narrative?

there’s something really poetic when the love interest tries to deny for better part of the book how much they love the main character but everyone can see CLEARLY they gave their heart to the mc from the very first day 🥵🥵🥵 They could be friends, him and Georgie. That’s what was wrong. He didn’t want one, especially her. She was too young, too positive, and too related to his best friend. There is more coming and I have questions. There is a flip I want details about. There is a relationship that I need to know what happens next with. There is a sister that I need to know about. And more. I'll be waiting for more. There's a lot of problems with the other Characters, the plot was there just for the sake of it, to keep Georgie and Travis together. The Just-us League was weird. The friendships were bland and didn't seem real. There was no depth to anything whatsoever in this book. Guess what the next book is about? This was so stinking cute! A lighthearted and steamy romance full of laughs and sizzle the likes of which only Bailey can write. I read it with a smile on my face from beginning to finish.Her sister Bethany is vain and says rude things without thinking. Basically her whole personality is fashion. I do genuinely like how she decided she wanted to take a more serious role in her family's house flipping company, but when she was making rude comments every other time she spoke, it was hard to root for her. She also got offended when Georgie pointed out that they didn't have a great relationship. It was hard to feel bad for her. And while there are bound to be hoards of readers who find virginal 23-year-old Georgie quirky, I’m not one of them. How was I supposed to take the girl seriously when (1) she’s a clown ( are there even any children on planet Earth that like clowns anymore?), (2) she’s never been on a date ( say what?) and (3) she just realized after a childhood of hand-me-downs that she could shop somewhere other than the thrift store ( insert eye-roll here)? In Georgie's defense, * fix her up* correlates to the growth she strives for in multiple facets of her life—career, home, and physical appearance improvements—not only the fake relationship that she lands herself in. Yawn. Dammit, Georgie. You had to be exactly what I need, didn’t you?”
I love the illustrated cover trend, but I have to start this review by saying that the cover of Fix Her Up doesn’t quite match the story. I thought I was jumping into an uber cute rom-com, and though this did have some cute and fun moments, it was a bit emotional and a crazy hot brothers best friend story.

right from the start i have to tell you that i am aghast that this is a published book in 2019. i understand that this is an adult romance and a lot of books in this genre have problematic elements. i don't understand, however, why it is necessary to include them in a 2019 release. the possessiveness, the sexism, all of it is just so wrong and just plainly bad. Where do I begin with my critiques of the romance? Firstly, Travis literally isn't interested in her until she 1) gets a haircut and wears tighter clothes and 2) another man takes an interest in her. I don't understand how that's romantic in the slightest? It takes him a significant amount of time to realise his opinion should've been the same before she changed, but I still thought it was gross behaviour. I loved both Georgie and Travis. Georgie especially was so fun and sweet. Her personality made her so darn lovable. Travis is an alpha male, but in a good way. He started out a little rough for me, but I grew to really love his character. And every time he called Georgie baby girl I melted a little. Funny, and SUPER hot, and also full of sooooo much heart... I AM SO EXCITED there will be more books in the series! Rachel Hawkins

Publication Order of Broke and Beautiful Books

Their families are friends. Georgie grew up with a huge crush on Travis. But he only sees her as his best friends little sister. So when it's Georgie that throws food, yes I said food, at his sorry behind to get his head on straight, Travis takes notice. That's the point where their friendship begins. I loved that the book didn't bounce right into a fake relationship. No, they became friends first. That made the set-up perfection. It didn't take over the story at all. It was just a small piece. Loved that. With everybody handling Travis with kid gloves, Georgie takes it upon herself to draw him out of his slump. Even though he doesn’t appreciate her meddling, he can’t help but be impressed by her even if it's evident that nobody else is. Read with caution, as feelings on this book are very polarizing, but if you like dirty-talking, lightly kinky, dominate men, and you like humor, a fun female MC (I loved her too!), and a super romantic HEA, then try this book. I'll be reading more Tessa Bailey from this point on. The novel was published in 2013 while the second novel that was also published in 2013 is known as “His Risk to Take”.
