START BLASTING WITH NERF ALPHA STRIKE BLASTERS: Alpha Strike blasters are a great way to start experiencing the power, performance, and excitement of Nerf, the number one blaster brand* The Flyte likely takes its name from the word "flite", which means to engage in sharp debate. Flite is a synonym to the word "strife", from which the Stryfe takes its name from.

The Hammerstorm ups capacity to eight darts, instead of the Hammershot’s five. It now features two Nerf rails, one on the top and one on the bottom. It even features a proper Nstrike barrel attachment lug, in case you really want to use those long barrel attachments. Four different sling points sit around the shell. The eight ammo storage slots sit under the cylinder. In the words of one particular Youtuber, “TACTICS, BRO!” This is the major downfall of the Cobra. The handle, while sufficient for gripping the blaster, feels horrible due to the skeleton nature of it. It can be somewhat ignored when the blaster is used in short spurts, but long term use is uncomfortable. Power into motorized, 10-dart blasting with the Nerf Alpha Strike Flyte CS-10 blaster! Fast-fire 1 dart a time -- hold down the acceleration button and pull the trigger. It comes with a 10-dart clip, so you can unleash 10 darts in a row before you need to reload. And this motorized blaster comes with 20 Official Nerf Elite darts, so you have 10 for the clip, and 10 for reloads. Official Nerf Elite darts are tested and approved for performance and quality and constructed of foam with a flexible, hollow tips. With the included Elite darts, the Hammerstorm averaged 73fps in testing. Rate of fire was decent at two darts per second when used one-handed. However, this rate of fire will vary, depending on individual finger strength and how many hands you use; younger children may fire slower, for example. In addition, one hand priming, one hand firing means you can pull off shots faster. Only slightly, but it’s noticeable when emptying the entire cylinder. Internals The Flyte and the Hammerstorm are the first Alpha Strike blasters to feature attachment points of any sort.

Hammershot Remixed

With a solid shell, nice features, and the simple fact that it doesn’t feel cheap, the Hammerstorm is already a winner compared to other Alpha Strike Blasters. Using the Blaster The Hammerstorm is an interesting anomaly. It’s part of the Alpha Strike line, but it’s clearly not constructed the same. The blaster is screwed together, not clipped. The handle is large and comfortable. There’s much more plastic than you’d expect. And you have eight shots in the cylinder, plus storage for eight more. As a result, it’s possibly the best blaster in the line so far. Wrapping with tape at least prevents the blaster from digging into your palm, though. Last Thoughts

Finally, the trigger is sealed within the shell, rotating on a point, with the “catch” attached to it and supported by ribs in the shell. This is a weak point if you attempt to modify the blaster, for sure. Then again, if you’re modifying the blaster…you’re probably not the target audience of the Alpha Strike series. Performance Out of interest, I cut and installed a small length of CPVC (CTS 1/2″) to add some precompression (though more could have been done). That by itself raised velocities to 84fps. Final OpinionThe Hammerstorm has a similar setup to the Hammershot – the rotation mechanism is slightly different. Beyond that, I would expect modders to be able to change up the internals in a similar manner; new springs or spring spacers are both effective.
