If it's a throughput measurement, what is the reported link speed? An easy way to get this is with "netsh wlan show interfaces" at a command prompt on the end device (if Windows) Ubiquiti makes in my opinion the best access points that you can buy these days. They offer a wide variety of Access Points (AP) in their UniFi product line that gives you the best value for money. But which access point should you buy? I am going to help you with the comparison of the different models.Note that to provision this you will need either A) a smart phone or B) a separate computer to run the UniFi Controller software. Option B is the only way to access more powerful features of the device, but casual users might not need this. Option A is a bit flaky on iOS at the time of this review - actual management features work once setup, but the initial setup of a new AP purely via iOS is a little broken. The developers have indicated they are actively working on this, and a new version of the iOS software will fix it. Android devices apparently work great. Java is needed to use the Ubiquity Controller software and if you want to run it as a service, so that it starts automatically, you need the 64bit version of Java. (Which also means Windows needs to be the 64bit version.) You will need to search the internet on how to configure it to run as a service. You can also place the U6-LR in a semi-outdoor environment because it’s IP54 rated. If your house has multiple floors, or when you can only place one access point, then the U6-LR is a really good choice to mount on the ground floor (and use the lite models for the other levels). In this setup the wifi from the Netgear router gets 800-930mb/s, while the UAP-AC Lite will get absolutely NO more than 95mb/s. Actually, it is almost like QOS is setup as it is consistently at 90-95mb/s. The first access point that we are going to take a closer look at in this UniFi AP comparison is the UniFi 6 Lite access point is the entry model of the UniFi Access Points. Its compact design allows you to easily mount it and with custom skins, you can make it fit in with the rest of your house. The new Wifi 6 models don’t come with a PoE Injector, so you will need to buy a PoE switch to power the access point, like the US-8-60W.

If you are looking for a Wifi 6 outdoor access point from UniFi then you will have to wait a bit longer. There is a new mesh access point coming out, the Unifi 6 Mesh, which is currently available in the early access store.The UAP-AC-Lite requires a POE injector as it is passive 24v and the US-8-150w is POE At/AF only. So with the injector I can plug the LAN side into the Netgear router and bypass the US-8-150w switch. This still produces 95mb/s on the UAP-AC-Lite. My existing routers from high level home devices configured in Mesh network. I don’t provide the brand name of the routers and the two routers were pretty expensive.

What killed it for me was when I did more research it came out that the Google WiFi systems are actually a router and while it is capable of being put into what they call "bridged" mode, where it essentially behaves just as a regular Access Point only WiFi device with no routing functionality... You end up loosing most of the cool functionality they show in the videos. That made it pointless, as being a Systems Engineer by profession, I demand more control of my systems. There was also the uncool tendency of Google just abandoning a project they feel isn't worth it anymore for them (either it's not making them any money or who knows, maybe they just lost interest). While I've had a great experience with my two (1 first gen, 2nd newer) Chromecast, I've had other Google products that become fundamentally defunct due to Google choosing to no longer support them way before I feel I am done with the device. And something like my WiFi I typically buy and it gets used for 5 years or so, I wasn't comfortable with the very real possibility of Google abandoning it just because THEY felt it was too old, before I felt the same way.If you can’t access the UniFi access point from the controller and can’t easily access it physically, then SSH is the last option that you have to reset the AP. First, we need to connect to the device. Connecting with SSH I have tested the cable used to the AP just now, in the same port the AP is using, and plugged it to my pc and did get over 900mbps. I also tested with a 3 foot cat6 (/shrug happened to have it) and got over 900mbps to my pc, then used both to the AP and still only getting FE (100mbps negotiated speeds). Generally after a week, initially marred by a painful and roundabout setup, I am extremely impressed with this AP, and will likely buy another one for my second story, so I will have the aforementioned roaming features.

There is no web interface on the AP's. If you aren't going to use the Controller software, then you can configure them using the iOS or Android app, but it doesn't allow you do much more than the basics. You would need to use the SSH command shell to get more granular.
