Overall the game play is great, the controls are nice using a little of the touch screen just to remind us it is on the PS VITA. Unit 13 is a third person shooter made by the same developer responsible for the highly successful SOCOM Navy Seals games on the Playstation 2, Zipper Interactive. Before long you’ll be synchronising stealth head shots with strangers over the internet and making an assault on the leaderboards with friends.

It had plenty of PS2 ports, I loved the Sly Cooper Trilogy and Persona 4 Golden is what made me get into the Persona series as well as an attachment for the PlayStation brand.Unit 13’s final mission type, High Value Targets, is unlocked once you achieve specific quotas in the main game.

All in all Unit 13 is a very enjoyable and competent 3rd person shooter but it doesn’t seem to push the boat out in all departments, which is a shame. Having cut its teeth on the popular SOCOM franchise, Zipper knows what it takes to create a good third-person shooter, and it shows in Unit 13: smart weapons, a fluid cover mechanic and enjoyable level design provide the game with a solid basis, but it’s in the title’s appreciation of its target platform that it truly shines. Each of these objectives is accompanied by a short piece of dialogue designed to add context to the scenario, but it’s not essential that you pay attention to these snippets. Some unofficial phone apps appear to be using GameFAQs as a back-end, but they do not behave like a real web browser does. So, Unit 13 sports good controls, plenty of missions and lots to unlock - - why is it just "good" on the IGN review scale?First released on 15th February, 2012 in the United States, with a European launch following on 22nd February, 2012, the PS Vita represented Sony's second attempt at a portable PlayStation platform, following the success of the PSP, which sold over 80 million units worldwide. Unit 13 doesn't have flashy visuals or an in-depth campaign, but it does have good controls and plenty to do.There are several normal missions, each of them vary, small, large, or medium in length, difficulty as well.

The only downside to this is that as you cannot use a headset you cannot talk your tactics over and you cannot communicate with your teammate.I can easily recommend this to any 3rd person shooter fan, this game makes perfect use of the Vita’s 2nd stick to bring you a truly home based experience on the move while also giving you smaller mission arenas for bite sized gaming. The camera stays directly behind the player character in third-person, or otherwise shifts to first person aim if the player selects the option to zoom in with guns that have the compatible attachments. Completing missions is only part of the story, as at the end of each mission you are graded on your time, accuracy, stealth and other factors that all come together to give you a star rating out of 5. In addition to eye-popping visuals, this spin-off leaned into all of the system’s key features, including its rear touchpad, camera, and motion sensors.
