This table saw can make vertical cuts to a depth of 52 mm (hence its name). It can also make horizontal mitre cuts of +/- 60 degrees and vertical mitre cuts of 45 degrees. The aluminium fence clamps into place at one end parallel to the blade to ensure accurate rip cuts. The mitre gauge fits snugly into its slot on the table for accurate cross-cut work as well.

Evolution came onto the scene a few years ago as a newcomer with its multipurpose cutting technology and blade. It utilises a high torque low rpm gearbox which is capable of easily cutting not only wood but steel, aluminium, plastic etc. Furthermore, it does so with no heat build-up and a completely workable finish with no burr on steel as well as virtually no sparks. The 1800W motor with a 5000-rpm cutting speed will power the resilient 250mm Carbide tipped blade through almost anything you throw at it, but once again, I would not recommend cutting steel and metals. In regards to its warranty, Charnwood offers a rather minimal one year. Nothing to worry about, any current owner can confirm that this product screams quality.

Probably most important in the article in comparison to other saws we reviewed in the past, one must be very safe while operating these. Since you could often be working with large pieces of material, you’re more than likely to be using both hands. What if you need to hit the power-off button in a hurry? The table saw switch needs to be as large as possible. And with the possibility of no hands-free, you’ll need to engage your knee, so the switch should be as close to knee height as possible. If you’re working with a table saw that sits on a bench, then the knee might not work so your elbow would be the next best (the switch would be higher anyway). Bosch is also one of the biggest names on this list, with build quality equivalent to DeWalt. Similar to the DeWalt, it is also a perfect mixture of portability and power. Fully adjustable blade with rise and fall (0 - 80mm) and the tilt capacity (45° to the left hand), allows great cutting versatility. It is important to note that this is the most expensive unit on the list, but it definitely is a solid choice for the professional. DeWalt only provides a 1-year warranty with this unit, but my past experience is null and void as these units are built to last.

Weighing in at a respectable 22.2 kg, it’s not the lightest table saw on my list. It’s still very portable though, and the 250 mm blade puts out an impressive 5,000 rpm no-load speed.
