However, it’s not all good news. In the set we were sent for this review, we found at least one carriage in each of the five player sets that featured a visible printing error - and in multiple cases, several cars from the same sets were affected. It’s worth stating that spare carriages are included, so it’s possible to play without using one of the misprinted miniatures, but given a set billed as being a premium offering - with a price to match - and the fact that these carriages are one of its headline features, it’s very disappointing to see. For Example: If a Ferry route has 5 gray spaces and 2 of them show a locomotive symbol, a player will have to discard 3 Train Cards of the same color and 2 wild cards to claim this route. A route is a set of continuous colored spaces (in some instances, gray spaces) between two adjacent cities on the map. To claim a route, a player must play a set of Train cards whose color and quantity match the color and number of spaces of the chosen route. The last round is triggered as soon as any player has 2 or fewer train cars left. Each player (including the player who triggered the game end) gets one final turn; then, scoring begins.

A player may claim any open route on the board. He is never required to connect to any of his previously played routes. The player(s) with the longest continuous path of train cars on the map gains 10 points for having the longest route. Place the map/game board in the middle of your play area. Each player chooses a color to play with and obtains the following components in their corresponding color:Of course, one of the first things you’ll notice in the 15 th Anniversary Edition is the trains. Gone are the days of boring flimsy plastic trains that all look the same. Now, instead of the repetitive cars we are all used to, each player gets their own set of uniquely sculpted trains which are both bigger and better. The new trains range from oil tankers to postal express carriages, and each set comes with its own gorgeous tin to keep them in. The tins are even designed to show off the trains’ branding and feature the names of the companies in their native language. Locomotive cards can be played along with any set of cards when claiming a route. They are also vital to claiming Ferry routes (see Ferries). Shuffle and deal 4 face down Train Cards to each player. This becomes the player’s “hand.” The remaining Train Cards get placed in a face down pile near the game board.

The entire box has been made larger to fit this new behemoth of a map in, and so it makes it a real focal point for your collection. However, because of its bigger size, it can feel a little empty, especially to those who are used to games like Gloomhaven, where the box is literally brimming with components. This 15 th Anniversary Edition feels more refined than other, more brutish games. The box is sleek, and the inside is carefully laid out with dedicated space for everything. The box insert itself is impressive, and even has special slots for each of the five-player tokens. You Have Arrived at Your Destination These tins really make this feel like a luxury product, no unnecessary plastic bags or loose components, everything is where it’s supposed to be. This attention to detail is delightful and really elevates the standard even higher. The stations have also been given a new lease of life. Just like the trains they are now bigger and feel much sturdier and all-round nicer to hold and use. As before they sit nicely over the trains themselves and have coloured roofs so that they stand out proud. Tunnels: Tunnels are special routes that are considered to be underground. Because they are underground, a player will not know exactly how many cards will be needed to complete that route. Build a Train Station -The player may build a Station in any city that does not yet have one. To build his first Train Station, the player plays one Train card of any color and places one of his Train Stations on that city.

Draw Train Cards – Draw two train cards from either the open market or from the draw pile. You may only draw one card if you choose to take a locomotive from the Market.
