Leland "Mike" Erikson- The main character in The Fold, he has an eidetic memory which allows him to instantly recall anything he's ever seen. Yes, there’s superheroes. The heroes are well written and have human failings, just like the rest of us, though they are larger than life. And zombies…zombies with a twist. They’re shamblers, as zombies should be, except the “special” ones who are not sprinters but they are oh, so much more! What was great about the novel would be the good set of characters. From the main character to the minor ones, all of them were fully developed in the end. Nate was a great main character and he delivered what he needed to do. Right from the start he was entertaining, and so were his apartment neighbors. My only complaint would be the cliche things that happened with them in the end. I saw everything coming, once again.

Mike, with the help of the Marines, manages to blow up the rings of the Door with a series of C4 charges, which ends up shutting off the door, but not destroying the rings. The novel ends with Mike meeting Veek and Roger and being offered a position to work with them at Kavach. this book is fast, you can read it in a couple of days, characters are well developed and the story is quite fascinating and intriguing at least until the last chapters where the book becomes a bit more obvious.

I loved the relationship between the humans and the superheroes, though some of the humans should have been snuffed out like bugs….ungrateful bustards. Yeah, I said bustards. Cosmic Horror Story: The secrets of the universe tied to the Kavach Building threaten one's sanity. Subverted. Everything actually more or less works out in the end. Anne - Played minor characters in both 14 (as a temp at Nate's work) and in The Fold (as a receptionist) but is the major antagonist in Terminus.

If you said yes three or more of the above questions then Ex-Heroes is probably right up your alley.Whilst he grew up in Maine, the home of famous writer Stephen King, which is something that has weighed heavily upon him over the years, he now lives in southern California. Continuing to write to this present day he’s written a large amount of short-stories, articles on films and various other articles, something which he currently maintains. With plenty more novels to come from him on the horizon, it seems this is something that’s not going to be stopping anytime soon, as his career carries on into the foreseeable future. I completely loved this book and while it was a debut book, it didn’t feel so at all. With a very clever but not wholly original premise, the author unleashes a very exciting story which grabs the reader’s attention and then proceeds to charm the reader in a variety of ways. Firstly the plot is a great one as the story begins with a scenario which should appeal to most zombie/apocalypse enthusiasts. From then on the author keeps the story moving forward with some great twists as well as the past recollections of each superhero. This tactic keeps the twin story strands; the past and the present constantly entwined while delivering the clues about the enemy and also illuminating the mistakes of the past. I was thrilled with the way the story was presented and how in the end the author managed to pull it off by coalescing all the threads and resolving all the questions arising in the readers minds.

Its actually taking me a bit longer than I thought to get all this down on my phone and so without rising any suspicion in here I'm going to pause it. For the novel 14, Nerds on Earth reviewer Joseph Robinson praised the work for the mysterious build-up that occurred during the novel as it was something that defied his own expectations for the piece. Robinson also comments that the characters in the novel are not completely fleshed out and only really make decisions that further the plot of the book. [1] Origins [ edit ]stars. This is probably a love or hate book for most. The main character is not endearing, the story not original (or enlightening )and yet, the approach was intriguing. Hidden in Plain Sight: The Kavach Building itself acts as one. You might suspect the device to be in the house, but you wouldn't expect the house to BE the device. It's just a weird little apartment building in L.A, right? The narrator of this book, Ray Porter was just so damn good!! He did all the accents and characters so well that I’ve got to listen to more audiobooks by him. Way to go Porter! Joseph Robinson of NerdsonEarth.com also reviewed Peter Clines’ second novel, The Fold, and he complimented the pacing of the novel and praised it for being true science fiction to its core. For this novel, he also commented about the characters and their purpose being only to push the plot forward. [2]
