The issue with the Philips sonicare protectiveclean 4100 is that it may be an electric toothbrush, but it doesn’t last all that much longer than a manual toothbrush. This means that you will need to buy another one at about the same time when you would normally buy another manual option even though you’re paying for that powerful lithium-ion battery. It does not come with a travel case.This rechargeable elctric toothbrush also has a pressure sensor that will protect your gums and teeth from getting damaged from exerting too much pressure, and it will simultaneously work wonders for improving the overall health of your gums. Slightly disappointing accessories aside, particularly the bog-standard travel case, the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 is a top electric toothbrush. Yes, it’s comparatively expensive, but it’s smart brush-head technology and excellent cleaning ability make it a winner. If you want clean teeth with the minimum of fuss, this is the best sonic toothbrush that I’ve tested. Verdict Most of our judges rated this toothbrush very highly, finding it to be solidly comfortable, with even our judges with sensitive gums giving it their stamp of approval. However, there was a small minority of judges that weren't the biggest fans of this brush. They didn't think that it was overly abrasive, like some of the oscillation-rotation models from Oral-B, more than the frequency of the vibration to be high enough to be slightly off-putting. When we compare the sonicare protectiveclean 4100 vs 5100 vs 6100, the 4100 and 5100 have adequate features but the winner is the 6100 as it has the ultimate flexibility in modes and intensities.
