The US Open is the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year, played annually in late August and early September.

In five notable instances, singles players won the first three events of the year and went to the final major tournament with the opportunity to complete the calendar-year Grand Slam but lost. Otherwise, she would have 21 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, which is reflected in the above table.The first player to win all four majors in a calendar year and thus complete the Grand Slam was Don Budge in 1938. The tournament was given the title "World Grass Court Championships" by the International Lawn Tennis Federation between 1912 and 1923, [87] and was designated a major championship following the abolition of the three ILTF World Championships.
