Make sure you have access to the library that holds the book. For instance does Christ's hold it? If your departmental library has it, is it open and available?Can you access it online instead? iDiscover will tell you if the book is available to read online and how available it is to you. For a green "Full text" you simply need to use your Raven access inside or outside the library. Guide to the microform collection, Royal Commonwealth Society, London, photograph collection, edited by John Falconer. (Leiden: IDC, 1988). This guide is shelved with the other catalogues behind the Superintendents' desk in the Manuscripts Reading Room. The Blue Ring File (located on the low shelf beside the catalogue) gives more information about using the catalogue, including a list of the most common abbreviations and subject headings used.

The online catalogue includes published material on the Commonwealth, and member countries, held in University of Cambridge libraries. Ph.D., M.Litt., M.Sc., and Divinity M.Phil. theses approved after 1970 are catalogued in iDiscover, as are M.D. and M.Chir. theses approved after May 2006. Earlier theses are listed in a card catalogue in the Manuscripts Reading Room and are gradually being added to iDiscover.

Not all of Girton College Library’s collection can be seen on iDiscover – it is better to search Heritage first if you think we might have a copy. Currently 19,000 digitised images of photographs, manuscripts, artefacts or archives from the RCS collections may be discovered through browsing or searching Cambridge Digital Library. Girton College Library has its own library catalogue, called Heritage. So which library catalogue should you use? Generally, iDiscover is useful for finding print and electronic resources available across numerous Cambridge University libraries. However, if you wish to access printed resources available at Girton we recommend you use Heritage.
