In the menu under mic settings, you have the option for a low-cut filter or a limiter. What is a low-cut filter? There are 4 buttons that can trigger any audio you want. The unit comes with 11 preset sounds that you can map to any of the 4 pad buttons. These are things like applause, laughter, jingles, rim shots, etc. But you can put absolutely any audio onto these buttons. So if you have, say, a previous interview recorded, you can have that loaded onto a pad button and just play it while doing your show. The problem with this approach, however, is that people’s hearing can vary. Remember that elderly relative who’d shout “SPEAK UP!” before you’d even finished asking them if they’d like another Custard Cream? Well if you plan on recording them on a future episode, you can crank their headphone volume up to 11 without bursting the eardrums of anyone else. The AC adapter is the Zoom AD-17. But you also need a USB-A to USB-C cable to attach it to the PodTrak. You will need to of those cables if you plan to connect the PodTrak to your computer while powering it with the AC adapter. OK so how does it sound? As I mentioned earlier, you still only have 4 inputs. For each remote guest, you give up one of the microphone inputs. So if you had 1 remote guest, you could only use 3 mic inputs. If you had 2 remote audio sources, then only 2 people can use microphones.

With 4 independent headphone outputs, each with a dedicated volume control - everyone can hear it all! Call-In Guests Note: If you are assigning intro or outro music that you will be fading out it is a good idea to lower the gain level in the sound pad setting so you have more room to fade out the music. Otherwise, it might cut out abruptly. Mic Settings Menu Nothing beats having all your participants sitting round the table together. This is standard in podcasting but some people will not be satisfied with this. I don’t think the Pro Video Coalition will be happy about this. Limited Sound Pad Buttons The LCD window is where you see what’s happening while you record, such as level meters and recording timer. But it is also where you need to look to do everything with the menu, changing settings, etc. So it’s pretty important to be able to see the information in this window.

The Rode is a condenser mic and so needs phantom power. That means you have to turn on the phantom power switch on the PodTrak. The PodTrak P4 weighs about 290g. That’s the equivalent to eight Roborovski dwarf hamsters. Or 7.2% of a cat. More practically – a bit more than the weight of your smartphone, a bit less than your favourite coffee mug. The P4 is designed to be convenient. It records directly to either an SDHC card (32GB max capacity) and a SDXC (512GB max capacity). To give you a rough idea of how much space you'll have, a basic 4GB card provides you with well over three hours of recording time. You do the math! However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers.Firstly, if you do live podcasting, this can really enhance the production level of your show. You’ll have effects, music beds, transitions, and sweepers at the touch of a button. There are 11 pre-recorded presets on the PodTrak P4, and you can load in your own, too. This could be anything from an intellectual long-form interview, to a puerile fart noise that you’ll hit each time your co-host attempts to tell a joke.
