A run that saw the Lilywhites overcome Glasgow Rangers (8-4 on aggregate), Slovan Bratislava (6-2), OFK Belgrade (5-2) and culminated in a 5-1 final thrashing of Atletico Madrid in Rotterdam, which provided Bill Nicholson with what Terry claims was his finest moment. Over 2.5m people watched Spurs during their 49-match march to glory in 1960-61 - an unsurpassed average of over 50,000 a game - and 115 goals in 42 League matches tells its own story. but injury curtailed his career. John Hollowbread retired to Spain in 1994, and passed away in 2007. Bill always went to see teams play beforehand and when we went to play Gornik in Poland in the first round, Bill said he'd be disappointed if we didn't win. Terry Dyson, born on November 29, 1934, in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, is a name that holds a special place in the annals of Tottenham Hotspur’s history. Despite not being as widely recognized as some of his contemporaries, Dyson’s contributions to the club were instrumental in shaping one of the most successful periods in its history. The ‘Double’ had been achieved and although the Final hadn’t been a classic, the team did what was required of them. The players had produced many exhilarating, quality performances during the season but with the high level of expectation and pressure on the team, on this occasion it was a matter of the job had been completed as they became the first team in the 20th Century to win the elusive ‘Double’ as 1st Division Champions and FA Cup winners.Indeed, following Robb's retirement, the arrival of Cliff Jones appeared to cut his chances further but, despite huge interest, Bill Nicholson made sure Dyson stayed at the club. Dyson, Terry I went to the school in Bushey and Mr Dyson was our PW teacher. Never forget him, absolute legend. Hope he is well. Here is a video showing the 1961 FA Cup Final vs Leicester.
