Limitations of Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ: It takes some time to learn how to use the mount and pointer, but once you do they are really easy to operate. The low focal ratio and high light-gathering power make this a classic, powerful reflector which is great if you want to scour the dark skies for unique sights and star-filled eyepieces. However, I wish they had changed the mount to complement these strengths better. The Right Mount For the Job

High-quality aftermarket eyepieces can at least make the observational experience with your AstroMaster 130EQ somewhat enjoyable, even with its imperfect optics and mounting. The 130EQ’s provided 20mm erecting eyepiece is entirely ruins low-power viewing, where the telescope can still deliver sharp views with no issues. A good low-power eyepiece, such as a 25mm Plossl (26x), is far sharper than the 20mm erecting eyepiece and offers the widest practical field of view with this scope, making it ideal for observing deep-sky objects. A 15mm “redline”or “goldline” eyepiece (43x) fits well between the 32mm and the provided 10mm eyepieces, while a 7mm planetary eyepiece (93x) provides about the highest magnification you can use with the AstroMaster 130EQ before the flawed spherical mirrors no longer provide a sharp or even acceptable image. Overall, this telescope is an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore astronomy on a budget while still having access to quality equipment that provides engaging views of our universe. However, there are some limitations to this telescope. Its plastic focuser is not very durable and may cause image distortion if not used carefully. Additionally, the mount may need frequent adjustments during use. Collimating is very very time-consuming: one has to remove the 5 inch mirror at the bottom, perfectly center-dot it, put a binder-ring protector on the mirror (carefully), then align the 2ndary and primary mirrors. I used a collimating cap, not a laser collimator, it didnt sit in very well with enuf stability to get the alignment right.Lots of patience is required to be able to see what you actually want to see, trust me patience will give you all that you want from this telescope.

The bulk of the AstroMaster 130 scopes I’ve seen have had acceptable primary mirrors–usually not quite parabolic but not quite spherical either–but a few have had spherical primaries that made for mushy views. I’ve also seen a few with great optics. When consulted, Celestron gives varying answers as to whether the AstroMaster 130 scopes are sold with spherical mirrors or not. One should not have to play the lottery to get a decent instrument with hundreds of dollars on the line, and Celestron should be able to give a concrete answer as to the nature of their product. This alone disqualifies the AstroMaster 130 from being a serious recommendation in our book. With an aperture of 130mm and a focal length of 650mm, the AstroMaster 130 EQ has a focal ratio of F/5. The Celestron Astromaster 130EQ, with its user-friendly design and reasonably priced features, makes it a suitable choice for beginners looking to explore the night sky. The CG-3 has a Vixen dovetail saddle so in theory you could put a different optical tube on it, but it wouldn’t really make financial sense to do so under most circumstances.

That is a lot of power that allows you to try and see distant objects that other telescopes struggle to view. con el StarPointer o el buscador de estrellas que tiene si tarde un poco en colocarlo hasta que vi un video que dice como colocarlo bueno no explica solo lo coloca y ya, asi que con eso me confirmo que el StarPointer si va en ese lugar aunque no me dice como se coloca ya que en el video solamente lo encaja y nunca dice que hay que aflojar los dos tornillos que trae para aflojar las piezas que encajan en el riel y una vez ya introducido en el riel , se vuelven apretar los tornillos para que se quede ajustado. este tambien cuenta con 3 pernos para manipularlo, el que esta abajo mueve la altura el que esta enfrente mueve hacia la izquierda o hacia la derecha y el que se encuentra del lado derecho sirve para encenderlo si lo giras hacia enfrente o apagarlo si lo giras hacia atras. tambien a la hora de encenderlo puedes ajustar el brillo de esta luz ya que denoche no vas a querer que este en lo maximo de brillo porque no te deja ver la estrella a la que apuntas y si tiene el brillo muy bajo no lo podras usar para calibrar el telescopio con el StarPoointer por cierto este ya viene con pila incluida. Den Mond kann man natürlich sehr gut beobachten. Bei 24mm ist er gesichtsfeldfüllend und beim Hereinzoomen kann man dann einzelne Krater und deren Schatten (je nach Mondphase) sehr schön anschauen. Hier lohnt sich das Zoom-Okular besonders.
