Sometimes all you want to do is punch a starship in the mouth. But, if you’re looking for a tabletop space combat game with a more civilized edge, look no further than Star Wars X-Wing. Finally, overall I think the art in Planet is pretty good. The animal art is nicely done on the cards and the box cover looks great. My only quibble is with the terrain art on the magnet tiles. In general, it feels a little generic and I would have liked to see a bit more variety with a more rendered look. In comparison to the other art in the game, the tile art feels a bit mailed in. Final Thoughts: One of the interesting things about the Planet Board Game is that all the animal cards in play are laid face up on the table at the start of the game. This allows players to formulate a tentative plan based on their objective card. Power Gridplayers will have to heavily rely on their strategic skills as they try to figure out how to navigate the intricate world of energy. Thanks to this challenging but entertaining board game, players get to compete against each other as they try to supply the cities with electricity.On the surface, Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile looks like a gussied-up version of Risk. But Oath really isn’t a strategy game at all. As I mentioned in my review, it’s a complex storytelling engine. Played regularly with the same group of people, it becomes more than a simple contest of wills. It’s a role-playing game wearing the clothes of a board game. Combined with the amazing art of Kyle Ferrin, it’s something truly special.

This beautiful board game transports its players into a magical version of Ancient Greece. In later rounds you will each compete over end of round cards which reward you with animals based on whether your planet is most well suited to their needs. Some animals want the largest zone of a single terrain next to another terrain type or not next to a specific terrain type. Others will go to the player with the most of a specific terrain. At the end of the game, points will be award for the different animals and the player with the most points wins.

Each player then randomly draws a secret objective card. The cards each have a different type of terrain and if a player obtains enough terrain segments of that type they will gain points. Players should be aware that they will need different numbers of segments to score points for different types of terrain; this is linked to the frequency with which they occur in the game. Add into that the secret objective card and the fact that you score less point for an animal that is from the same habitat as your habitat objective card, and you get a game that has a lot more depth to it than its appearance suggests.
