My favourite character was Ellie Silver because she shows strength and courage through out the book.Kirby's life is turned upside down after a terrible storm hits his hometown, leaving his mum fighting for her life. I understand even some keen readers wont be able to read it as quickly but the chapters are a perfect size, with amazing cliff hangers, you able to dip in and out of the book and still maintain knowledge of what has happened. This is a decent choice for strong young readers who are okay with a little bit of evil menace and intrigue but are not ready for anything truly scary. I enjoyed the new characters that were introduced especially Peg -she is feisty- she brings a lot to the story.
