Imagine if Baz Lurhmann teamed up with Tim Burton and the pair reworked Vincent Van Gogh’s famous sunflower masterpiece and you might come close to a visual representation of the ‘Moulin Rouge’ cultivar of the genus. I never had a non-white lecturer while doing my BA at university. The first time I did, I was doing my PGcert in Art, Design and Communication and was taught by the founder of Shades of Noir, Aisha Richards, on the inclusive practice unit. She was able to free history and art practices through an intersectional lens which was really affirming for me and made me realise there is space for me in the creative world. Carleen has become one of London’s most skilled and diverse street artists inspiring young people and female artist by empowering her-story through street art and workshops. Former founder of the Wom Collective a female street art collective based in London, Carleen became a curator to create more opportunities to give exposure for other street artists. Elsewhere, London-based artists Rebecca Bellantoni and Elsa James – both known for driving social change through their artistic practice – will be performing for attendees. For an idea of what to expect, Bellantoni’s work typically explores the philosophical aspects of reality, as tied up with the experiences of marginalised communities; James’ focus lies in issues of race, gender, diaspora, and belonging, with a specific emphasis on disrupting cultural stereotypes. These succulents can thrive outdoors as well as inside the home, as long as you live in a part of the country that receives enough sunshine.

Succulents are famously easy houseplants to care for and Haworthia is no exception – but the chunky, interconnected segments of its foliage certainly are exceptional. We see the colors that certain compounds reflect rather than absorb. For example, a green plant reflects light at the green wavelength but absorbs other the color of light.Each course will run for four weeks and be led by a lecturer who will devise an engaging curriculum that includes an artist talk and a guest lecture. For each session, participants will be asked to engage with learning material that they can read, watch or listen too. The best art usually discusses the artist’s perspective, worldview and experiences. I love looking at art that tells me a story, whether it is about love, family or tragedy. It is even more moving when art is authentic and I think that is the most important thing about the creation of art. Is it authentic to the artist’s experiences of life? Can anyone join BB courses, even if they know nothing about art? The best thing is it doesn’t demand any care. With just water and sunlight, you are free to enjoy its dark color throughout the year.

Carleen De Sözer is a self-taught artist born in Birmingham, England in the late seventies. Her only destination was to live the life of an artist. The roster of tutors is so exciting and I’m already programming for semester two. The masterclasses are going to be more hands-on and I will be working with emerging and established artists and creatives so that they can share their creative practice in a formal way with their peers. I am personally so excited to learn from the tutors that have been selected to teach a course, two of whom include:Show and Share invites visitors to explore highlights from the Library and Archive collections. Previous highlights have included letters, sketchbooks, artists’ books, zines, catalogues, ephemera, photographs, and other special collections. Ayesha Feisal is a British-Sierra Leonean artist who lives in London. Her artworks are inspired by human behaviour and the mind. She is interested in psychology and explores the psyche using the human form. Feisal draws influence from expressionist and futurist movements and uses intense colours to heighten emotions. Her pieces depict characters who transcend circumstances. She finds inspiration in consciousness, universal law, balance, and truth. The scarlet flowers of this hibiscus cultivar survive for just one day, but the blooming season outlasts that of many others of its genus. This hybrid species has barely been around for a decade, which may make it more difficult to acquire.

From the Tate’s own collection, the evening will also feature “The Unfinished Conversation”. Taking inspiration from the influential cultural theorist and political thinker Stuart Hall, and curated by Tate Britain’s Aïcha Mehrez , this selection of artworks reflects on the challenges and opportunities of our time through the lens of representation in the arts and broader society.Phill is a multi disciplinary creative living in the Oxfordshire countryside. His work includes graffiti and street Art, graphic design, illustration, fine art, textiles and surface pattern design, and interior and exterior mural paintings. Phill takes his inspiration from nature as well as our rich history of Art & Design, in particular the arts and crafts movement, Art Nouveau and gothic revival.

The courses will expand on the ideas explored in the artworks and practices of the artists working with Art on the Underground throughout 2022, these include Joy Labinjo, Larry Achiampong, Rhea Storr and Shanti Panchal. Evan Ifekoya who is teaching Art of Devotion. They’ve had their work presented across Europe and Internationally including Liverpool Biennial (2021); De Appel Netherlands (2019); Gasworks London (2018).Carleen’s distinct style can be seen across London. Creating large Murals has exposed her work and personality to street art lovers worldwide. The single flower heads sit proudly atop the towering stems, while the lush greenery of the foliage and the dainty pale yellow of the anthers are pleasing contrasts to the ruby richness of the flowers. 26) ZZ Plant ‘Raven’ Wumi “Wumzum” Olaosebikan is a Nigerian-British illustrator originating out of East London. A muralist and animator who specialises in character & world design that subjects play on London living with an afrofuture lens. Wumzum’s craft has taken him across 4 continents and takes inspiration from a range of sources: the visual language of comics; the interactivity of video games; the dynamism of graffiti; and the fluidity of the London Jazz scene. These are all elements that Wumi has had heavy involvement in as a creator. Although there are darker, lighter, and differently colored varieties that grow naturally in the world, most plant foliage is green because green-colored foliage most efficiently absorbs the wavelengths of light that aid plants in the energy-producing process of photosynthesis.
